RE: State CG or parks?

How about Charlestown State Park, Charlestown IN? Is that SW enough? It's near Louisville KY. Good reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com

RE: Need suggestions for parks FL to NewOrleans I-10

I would use www.mapquest.com to route the trip, then locate cities along the way and look up campground reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com for exampled for Gulf Shores Alabama. I think the most you can hope for between those 2 cities are RV resorts near the beach, not on the beach. In New Orleans, nothing on the beach except state park. Ponchatrain Landing is a nice RV resort in New Orleans. In Gulfport Mississippi there is a new RV park on US90 across the road from the beach. Not fancy, just gravel parking lot with hookups but the location is good. Near Island View Casino. We like Silver Slipper Casino RV Park. Very quiet and across the road from the gulf. Destin West RV Resort in Destin FL looks good. Never stayed there but across from the beach.

RE: campground around KC Missoouri

We stayed at Worlds of Fun. As long as it's during the week, wouldn't be a problem, but it's packed on the weekends and holidays. It's also pricey.

RE: Broken Window - Advice Needed

Suncoast Designers in Hudson FL repairs RV windows. Not sure about the frame, but might be worth a call. Many people have taken their dual pane windows out, shipped them to FL and Suncoast repairs those with broken seals and foggy. They also replace broken windows.

RE: How do we keep 2 yr old from opening screen door?

I would put 2 hooks, one up high and one low. My 3 year old daughter (long time ago) pushed the bottom of the screen door open enough to squeeze out.

RE: Traveling in Tornado prone areas

We check the weather 10 days ahead and try to avoid storms if possible by taking an alternate route or staying put another day or two. I check www.weather.com every day. We have a weather radio and leave the setting on "all" counties. When we stop, I find out what county we're in and note the surrounding counties. I ask the park office were the shelter is. If there is a severe thunderstorm warning with high winds or tornado warning, we go to the shelter. In 5 years of traveling, we've only had to do that twice. Once outside Cincinnati and once in Florida!

RE: RV Insurance

National Interstate Insurance specializes in full timers. They insure the RV and tow vehicle or toad. They include Coach Net roadside assistance in the policy premiums. We've used the roadside assistance once and it was great. We used the insurance for cracked windshield and they were friendly and expedited the claim. I don't know how their rates compare but they were cheaper than the other company we had before we changed to them. You can get a quote from an independent agent who carried their line.

RE: Update from the Road and Question

If you don't have one, a good weather radio would be good. We check the weather 5-10 days in advance and try to avoid severe weather. Of course, sometimes all you can do is hunker down. Be safe. Thanks for the update!

RE: Pets are NOT to be left unattended... what??

We are full timers and have stayed at many parks where pet owners left their dogs in their RV all day and the dogs barked the entire time. Anyone walking by, the dogs feel a threat and bark. Just their nature. Please make other arrangements.

RE: camping in the smokies

Cove Mountain RV Resort is listed as Sevierville but is closer to Townsend and the entrance to the park. Reasonable rates. We drove by a month ago and only a few people there. Almost 10 miles from Sevierville. We stayed at Cove Creek RV Park closer to Sevierville. More expensive but a nice park and easy drive to the park. About 7 miles from Sevierville. Either park would be very quiet.

RE: How to plan??

We find that if we stop early during the week we don't have any problems finding campgrounds. For holidays we do make reservations. For weekends, we arrive early Thursday and stay thru Saturday or Sunday night. Most weekend campers arrive Friday afternoon and have to leave Sunday to go back to work.

RE: NYC campground recommendations

WE stayed at the Newburgh NY KOA. About an hour north of NYC. You can take the train into the city at Beacon NY. The KOA has a tour from the RV Park but it's pricey.

RE: what would you get?

Custom built and custom decorated Foretravel! 36' with 4 slides, 4 door fridge. New toad, not sure what kind, have to research that one. It will have to be painted to match the Foretravel! I would also buy each kid their own RV for their families. I better get off here and put in my order for the Foretravel.

RE: West Texas Trip

For Palo Duro Canyon, we stayed at The Oasis RV Park in Amarillo and drove to Palo Duro. They do have campgrounds in the canyon but they were pretty remote for our liking.
For the observatory, try Balmorhea State Park.
Can't help with Big Bend. That's on our list. Enjoy! keep us posted.

RE: Harpers Ferry West VA - KOA

Nice park. We just left there. Sites are short but they will work with you on finding the right spot. I would make reservations and call them and tell them what you need. Some of the back in spots were actually the nicest. Very nice hosts. You could spend hours in Harpers Ferry town. Very interesting.

RE: Recommendation for Internet Cellular Connection

I have the Verizon Mi-Fi 4G hotspot with the Wilson Sleek booster. Worked everywhere we've been in the US and Canada but we don't boondock. If you get a signal the Sleek will boost it a bit faster. We have the window mount taller antenna for the RV and the smaller antenna for the cell phone in the toad.
