RE: Payment

It has nothing to do with affording it. Why use my money when I can use yours with no interest. I have clients who could pay cash for large purchases if they want but use 6 months same as cash or 12 months interest free all the time. It's just managing your money smart.

RE: Camping near Lousiville, KY

Stayed at Elizabethtown Crossroads last Mothers Day. Had a nice level gravel pull thru site with shade. People were friendly. There was a Gold Wing rally there at the time. It was fun to see all those motorcycles on parade with all the fancy lights.

RE: best miniature golf??

I just remembered one we played at the Outer Banks. Either Nags Head or Kitty Hawk. I think it was Mutiny Bay Putt Putt. The day we were there it was very windy (when is it not on the Outer Banks?) and the sand from the near by dunes were blowing and it made every hole a sand trap. We laughed how it made it more of a challenge.

RE: best miniature golf??

There is one in Gatlinburg called Hillbilly Golf. It is built up the side of the mountain right on the main road coming into the town from Pigeon Forge. You take a trolley up to the top and play your way down. It was a hoot.

RE: Henry ford museum

We stayed at Detroit Greenfield RV park when we went to Henry Ford and Greenfield Village. Liked the campground, loved the museum and village.

RE: So Far, Good Sam not worth it

I've been happy with Good Sam for over 12 years. But to each their own. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla, everybody likes something different.

RE: Shades / mini blinds.

yes, you can have the night blackout part down, the day light filtering part down or all of it pushed up so the window is totally opened.

RE: Which one would you buy?

I think your estimate on doing the cabover repair is low. Also the cost of your time should be factored in. That is not a quick fix.

RE: RV brand names

I think two of the worse ones I've seen are the Tsunami and the Intruder. Our first TT was called the Millinium which we nicked named the Falcon (for you Star Wars Fans). Our current motorhome is a Jayco Designer which everyone thinks is so appropriate for me since I'm an Interior Designer.

RE: Keeping out mice and such while in storage?

Well I used lots of dryer sheets and a couple of the sticky traps. It only needs to be there for 4 weeks so hopefully it will work. Thanks everyone....

RE: 50 CC motor scooters

We had one at Camp Hatteras a couple years ago and as I was riding it going up to the office to get a newspaper I was told I could not ride my scooter in the campground. I was also told the same thing at a campground in northen Ohio two weeks later. So I sold it.

RE: Selling Personalized Gifts

I have sold at a large local flea market for the last couple years. Mostly antiques and collectibles we were unloading from my MIL house. It is hard work. You have to get there before the crack of dawn to a good space or even any space at all. Then set up all your stuff, haggle with people all day long wanting to give you a dollar for something worth ten bucks, sit on an asphalt lot in 100 degree weather. It got so we kept seeing the same people shopping all the time so we quit hauling our stuff there to sell. Sold all her stuff at auction and was done with it. Now we sell at craft shows. I sew tote bags, book bags, walker bags and such. We make more money and the venues are much nicer. Last two weekends we went to a Christmas in July craft show at two different state parks. Camping + craft shows = a perfect weekend for us. Good luck in your adventure.

Good point about having the jacks up. Makes sense.

RE: Keeping out mice and such while in storage?

Thanks for the ideas. I saw something online called Fresh Cab. You can get it at Tractor Supply. Anyone have any luck with that? Thanks

Keeping out mice and such while in storage?

I have to store our Class C motor home in our tractor barn at our farm for 6 weeks while it is waiting to have the cabover leak repaired. Are there any tips or anything I can do to keep mice and other varmit out of the camper while it is waiting? The barn is basically three walls and a roof so it is open for any critters to get in. They seem to leave the farm tractors alone but not sure what they will do with the camper. Any ideas?

RE: Simple Answers

I think the forum still serves a useful purpose. Not everyone has been a member for over 9 years like you have been. Everybody was new at something at one time in their lives. What is "stupid" to you is a real quest for knowledge to someone else. There are no stupid questions only the occasional cranky responder.

RE: Tire brand help

Went to the tire place today with what was left of the exploded tire. Hauled it into the service managers office. He said they have never had this happen before. I said 4 out of 6 is obviously a problem. I said Cooper must agree as they keep sending me refund checks after every tire desinigrates. He went and got the general manager who said he was calling the Rep from Cooper to come look at this tire, the one from two weeks ago that they still have and the other 2 left on the motorhome. I'll give them some time to do their thing and make this right.

Thanks to GSRA for quick service

I am posting this as so many people have been bashing this service in the forums and I just wanted to say thanks for being there when we needed you. This past Friday afternoon we are heading north on I-71 in Ohio heading to our weekend destination. I am driving behind our Class C when I see the left rear inside tire EXPLODE. Hubby pulls over and we pick up the pieces that we could find (mud flap and tire tread that I'll need for the warranty claim but that's another story). We limp along for two miles to get to the Jeffersonville Outlet Mall. I call the 800 number who could tell where I was by the GPS from my phone. This was at 1:00. After a short wait on hold the operator told me who the service provider would be and they would be there in 100 minutes. At 2:05 here comes the provider who quickly changed our tire, checked the other tires and by 2:30 we were back on the road. GSRA called back to make sure everything was fine. Over all a good experience.

RE: Tire brand help

I had Cooper tires put on my Class C three years ago. Last May I had a belt seperate on one while on the interstate in Kentucky, then in July the same thing happened at the start of a trip. The tire place put new tires on at the time (Firestone as they didn't carry Cooper any more, that should have been the first tip off to me), sent the tires to Cooper who said they were defective and sent me a check to cover the replacement. They said the other 4 are fine. Well two weeks ago coming home there was a thump, thump, thump and the steering kept pulling to the right. Took it to the tire place and they said the belt had slipped and replaced it with another Firestone. Two days ago on the way to our weekend camping trip, another Cooper EXPLODED while going down the highway. Blew off the mud flap. Good Sam Emergency Road care came and changed tire with my spare. I have most of the exploded tire to take to the tire place in the morning. So now 4 of the 6 have had belt problems. I think the other two are time bombs. I am going to have a chat with the General Manager in the morning.
