RE: Need a Plug

Putting the male end on the truck is not a good ideal. There's a possibility of shorting if the contacts hit something....
Maybe I'm misunderstanding here.. Aren't hitch mounted trailer receptacles on vehicles all "male" ??
On Edit- I mis-spoke

RE: Towing a jeep on a trailer behind truck with 9.5' Apex

I will also mention that my setup uses no suspension add-ons and I can adjust the Bronco's position on the trailer to keep my truck's tail from dragging.....................
By adjusting the load on the trailer (in this case presumably to the rear of the trailer in order to raise the rear of the truck ) wouldn't this in effect create a fulcrum through your extension/hitch and place more weight forward on your truck?
I am talking very small movements and I am not using the Bronco as a substitute weight-distribution system to raise the back of the truck. It is simply adjusting the load so that the truck doesn't overly squat due to too much tongue weight.
There is no appreciable weight transfer to the front end of the truck and no fulcrum effect other then the slight increase of tongue weight felt at my hitch due to the leverage of the 18" extension.
Trailer tracks arrow straight and the truck handles/stops perfectly. I recently used the same setup to tow my buddy's 24 foot TT behind my Apex as well with similar results.
Thanks

RE: Towing a jeep on a trailer behind truck with 9.5' Apex

It will create a fulcrum that lifts the rear of the truck if he moves too far back, ..........Most trailers will tow and track best when they have 5% to 15% of thier total weight on the tongue.
OK .....does this add more weight to the front of the truck? and is this a concern when towing??

RE: Dewinterized - Water pump won't prime any more [solved]

Did you pump RV antifreeze through the system when you winterized your camper? Are the bypass valves open? Sometimes it takes a minute or so to prime the pump?
Just some thoughts...

RE: Arctic Fox 860 Theft Recovery Project

You should give Northwoods ( Arctic Fox ) manufacture a call or drop them a note. I have read they have always been helpful with others who had questions. Besides I bet they would be pleased to hear your story.

I'm saddened by the news of jponder- his presence will be happily remembered through his posting on RV net.
God Bless and condolences to his family.

RE: Automotive GPS suggestion

...There is a website that provides (for a small fee) the POI files for low bridges for TomToms.
Low Clearances.com
I wonder if the Camper Crusher Bridge near Billings is included in the software :h

RE: Anyone have the dimensions of a camper tiedown point?

Roughly how large is the hole in the camper bracket that the happijack or whatever turnbuckle connects and how far away from the edge is the hole?
You may need to give Happijac a call 1-800-231-7440.

RE: Engine Block Heater/Grill Cover Needed?

..... Living where I do, I NEVER plug in my Duramax. We do have usually 1 week in January when the temp is a constant -20F and it always starts right up....
Why would you not plug in your truck??

RE: Engine Block Heater/Grill Cover Needed?

While I'm not familiar how the grill cover attaches on your "new ram". I plug in my diesel below 0F .
As far as a cold weather package- I do not know of any diesel sold in north america- without a block or air box heater- so I believe the heater is standard equipment.
I see a few grill covers on trucks when the temps are below -10F. Personally I have never owned a grill cover, I have operated diesel powered trucks and equipment for over 20 years.

RE: Automotive GPS suggestion

Looking for a new vehicle GPS. Would like lifetime updates, campground info, bridge height info if possible, verbal commands! Not interested in road condition, weather, blue tooth. Just a good basic GPS! :h
Go to Best Buy or similar and ask questions- let them know your needs.
Garmin is user friendly and seems to be very popular, they offer upgrade packages.

RE: Rubber roof bubbles or blisters

I have one about 2" x 5" in my 2011 keystone tt. Should I contact dealer where bought or keystone? I know they will say is normal.
While this is small bubble now- it is not normal- demand they fix it now - or they will replace the roof later.

RE: Sealing Roof Leak

There are no seams on my roof. One piece aluminum.
Just the trim on the edges, the clip for the top hold down latches and marker lights are the onlt penetrations.
Then these are the areas you may need to re-seal with a RV type sealant. As stated above the lights may be the problem. Good Luck

RE: Sealing Roof Leak

I would reseal the l marker lights for sure and check the trim and reseal it too. The lights are a main source of water leaks. I think any where that the roof has a rivet or screw should be looked at and resealed if needed. I really think the light are a big problem. They are cheap and tend to leak through the lenses or the base it's self. I replace all my marker lights with molded LED's and sealed them to the camper with ProFlex. I know the aren't going to leak. Good luck with your leak fixing project.
