Jason: Where do you usually camp at JV (if you can remember that fare back).
I will call the ranger station tomorrow to check on scheduled races for that weekend if you have not already done so. That may influence the decision on where to go. As I said in my other post I will be at JV the weekend after Easter so if you need me to get any info I can just let me know.

Just a warning:
Bessemer Mine Road is VERY ROUGH, the last 2 trips I was under 5 MPH for several miles, until you go down the hill to the dry lake level.
The downhill area with several turns is especially rough and rocky.
NO problem making it in there, just be prepared for a long and Dusty trip and watch out for the "Bone Heads" that drive like they are in the Baja 500, spraying rocks, etc. everywhere.
The last time I was over on the Camp Rock Road side, the road was washboard and soft, but NOT anywhere near as rocky/rough as Bessemer.
NOT trying make a negative post, but just a gentle reminder about the shape of the road. I will be out there 04/21 to 04/23 for a Dez race, so I will see how the road is.
I did some checking on that date, I Can't make it,
Going to Bishop/Mammoth area.

We just did get back from spot SH today and will also be out the weekend after Easter for the Poker Run & National working a check.
We had a great week camping/riding with dieseldude, santa cruz gang, and campermama.
What club are you with Bobwanderer? We are with the P. Dogs, maybe we can meet that weekend.
The weekend of May 19-21 sounds good also, let us know where in JV.

I am NOT with any club, as I don't race anymore, #1 Son is with BPMC,
#2 Son un-attached.
I help out when I can and several other BPMC members are supposed to be there.
If Your out there stop by, I will be looking for You also.
Rick-O and I were out there "scouting", a few month's ago, and I liked the rocky area beyond (NE?) of the lakebed, off of Bessemer Rd. I'm not real hot on lakebed camping. Too much dust, and no protection from the wind. Downside, to the rocky area, was a lot of broken glass, around those rocks, read, "not youngn's friendly".
See ya out there!!

It's called the "Rock Pile", NOT a bad area to camp near, BUT if there are any races that weekend, LOOK OUT.
So where is Johnson Valley? The following weekend would be better since it is Memorial weekend and we have a 3 day weekend! Or, we could plan another trip for that weekend!
