I have started a blog called Vote to regulate gas prices The reason should be noticeable in each of your pocket books each time you fill the tank in your RV. It just blows my mind to know when I fill my 100 gallon diesel tank it will cost me more than $400.00 and about 800 miles down the road I will have to do it again. People, let me tell you I never envisioned such run away fuel price increases.

I have been a full timer since 2001 That is not a long time for some of you. For you folks that have been at this life style less than these past seven years perhaps you can better accept our current crisis.

Seven years ago a 100 gallon tank of diesel fuel cost less than $100. Traveling these United States of America was fun. We moved around the country side at will never giving much of a thought to the price of fuel. It was affordable, not cheap. Today, however, My wife and I must plan our travels with care. We can not afford to travel at will. In fact, we often have to stay longer in one location just to save enough funds to travel to our next location.

I tell you it is tough to drive our motorhome on a two thousand mile trip to visit family. And, when we do visit the stay is much longer than we would like. Gota save bucks to move on down the road.

Think about this for a moment; in 2001 my fuel cost for a two thousand mile trip averaged less than $250.00 at about 8 miles per gallon of fuel. Now that same trip next month will cost more than $1,025 That is just unacceptable.

I feel as though I must do something to help control the unjustified greed of the petroleum industry. Enough is Enough. Visit my blog by clicking here then leave a comment or two on your thoughts to solve the crisis we are dealing with.

Sorry for your troubles, but the hand writing was on the wall when you bought your rig. Do you pull a towed, have you fixed your driving habits? Regulation will just dry up the supply, better to just figure ways to use less. If diesel is less than $5.25 a gallon by summers end I will be amazed.

You may be one of the people who have to change your lifestyle because of the fuel costs, sad thing, but sometimes you have to face the realities of life.

While I do sympathize with your situation and also am dismayed at the increased fuel prices, I feel mostly sorry for the folks who must drive--many on long commutes--to work and back every day and whose jobs may also soon be in jeopardy. In short, there are those much worse off than we RV-ers.

I agree, regulation is not the answer. It sounds like you need to change your habits or give up rv'ing. You not being able to travel in not a "crisis".

Run Away Fuel Prices, What Can a Person Do . . .

Unfortunately, not matter what citizens WANT done, the only thing I really believe we CAN do is BEND OVER and kiss our collective butts goodbye . . .

What better way to bring down the US than to destroy our economy, which is what these gas prices and the falling dollar are doing. We are right where THEY want us . . .

I'd say more, but it's not allowed here. . .

PS, I applaud you on your efforts!

Price controls will only bring back lines and shortages. Government can not repeal or ignore basic economics, no matter how good the intentions. As it always has before, science and engineering will solve the fuel and energy problems. Genetic engineering of organisms that will utilize cellulose and make liquid fuels with the same energy density as gasoline are almost ready to scale up. Fuel pricing produced this way should be less than current high prices.

Simple, pay the price or leave in their tank is all I can do because I have no control over sitting the price. Like OPEC cares what laws we pass to control the price of fuel. [emoticon]

So far I hear the adittudes of those that we should just accept what is coming ,I think if we want change we collectively should do something. Not just say change your habits. I saw this coming for years ,when they say turn your lights off to save, separate your trash to save, cut your a/c to save. So this was done, and did we save? NO!it cost us more due to maintance cut to keep up. I think those who believe what their told will suffer without doing something about it. rbertsch - has it right ,its a start to show our strenght and collectively we can try to do something about it.. The petroleum industry does not control supply or demand or the commodity prices. Blame China and India and OPEC not Exxon or Chevron. Maybe we should invade and take over all the OPEC countries, then we would control the world's supply and we could have cheap oil. Otherwise the government can do nothing to help you except decrease fuel taxes
