Exxon anounced a 66% drop in profits this year. Their total federal taxes paid amounted to about what the bottom 50% of American taxpayers paid into the system. (about 4% of the total). Maybe they will get a bailout.

Where can I read about this?

It is all over the internet, but here is one link. The business sites will have more detail.

I looked at the citation, but all it contained was the news of the profit drop.

Where does this come from:

"Their total federal taxes paid amounted to about what the bottom 50% of American taxpayers paid into the system. (about 4% of the total)."

Aren't made up statistics a Hoot?
So, is the 66% drop actually a drop or is just a reduction of the recent upward increases that are on a downward spiral?

I just noticed that gas prices are down, and have been down for a while, and we haven't drilled one new drop of oil in Alaska or the OCS.

How can it be? What happened to "drill, baby, drill"?

Look again. If your gas prices haven't been going up they soon will be and to the tune of 20 cents per gallon at least. Within the last 2 weeks we have had a 20 cent increase and I expect a little more.

Look at what NYMEX RBOB Gasoline Futures Close is doing.

World pricing of oil and it's products is a little more complicated that this statement indicates.

Ours went up 3 cents last week, but have started dropping again. With the price of oil going down I really don't foresee an honest increase in pump price, a gouge by some stations, but not an honest increase.

It sounded so simple when all we needed was "drill baby, drill".
