We have a '06 3612 and pull with a 4X4 Dodge Ram 2500HD Quad Cab Short Bed Diesel. We have pulled 40,000 miles of which over 6,000 were in Mainland Mexico. Not a single problem but we do have airbags. The Dodge 2500HD is the same truck as the 3500 except one additional spring in the rear and the dually option. You see very few duallys in Mexico as there are width issues in many of the cities, streets just too narrow. We have pulled up and down mountains in Mexico that makes anything we have seen in the USA look like speed bumps. We are still on our original trailer brakes and second set on the truck, truck has 70,000 miles. When we replaced front pads we also upgraded to cryo treated slotted rotors & Performance Friction pads all the way around. In the States we load the garage to the limit.
I pull a Raptor 3814 with a 2004.5 Chevy CC SB D/A. Added airbags and Load Range E tires. Pulls it FANTASTIC. But I would not even consider pulling it with the 6.0 gasser. I had one of those and pulled a 25' bumper pull with it. Into a strong headwind, the 6 liter really struggled. I'd say you need a diesel. Besides, once you get a diesel, you'll never want to go back to gas.

Anyone towing a Raptor 3712 with an F250 HD Diesel? I added airbags, exhaust break & power chip (it's nice to put my foot on the pedal and have the truck actually move right away). I think with my Honda 650 I might be pushing the GCWR.
I have the 2007 raptor fuly loaded with gear,fuel,water, toys and it weighs in around 15500 pounds ( 12700 pounds on three axels and 2800 pounds on truck rear axels).I pull it with a 2008 F450 lariet dually.the combination works great and it is a very heavy fifth .This truck is amazing, I added the bully Dog Pup chip and set it on tow only ,made a huge difference in towing this rig around and improved my milage. The authority having jurisdiction in your state is the answer here as it will cost you in the end if anything should happen where insurance needs to cover you .First thing they look at is your rig and weights ,you will be busted and left to fend for yourself.$$$$$ not worth it in my opinion.Look for a bigger truck or lighter toy hauler. I have a Cyclone 3795, which is equivalent to the Raptor 3612. I pulled it for a year with a 2006 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 LWB, difference is it was the Duramax diesel and Allison transmission. It pulled OK, but I will tell you that my pucker factor increased based on the % of incline on hills. That's a lot of weight to move up and hold back going down hills. The diesel and allison helped with the hills, but I was never truly comfortable with the setup. I wouldn't try to pull that trailer with your setup. I added the airbags to help level the rig out, but don't think really increases towing capacity.
I just upgraded to an 09 F-350 diesel dually, but have yet to pull the trailer with it (only has 400 miles!).

Ok, here's my issue.....
The 09 F350 will not move you up the hills or slow you down the hills any better than your 06 DMax....infact, the Allison has a better tow/haul feature than the Ford and would probably be better for the downhill. Plus the power ratings are the same or VERY close, but the GM will have more power to weight ratio due to the 1000lbs of less weight. Your post makes no sense to me.
