Anita, sorry to hear about your Mom. Hope she gets well soon.

Robin, I woke up this morning feeling very much like you too. Maybe I am you?

Anita, your mom is in our thoughts and prayers.

So Larry, tell me, how did it feel to wake up & love the Steelers?

Morning All. Had a fun day at Cedar Point yesterday with a whole group of Ohio Rally folk. Todd & Bonnie & granddaughter Brooklyn; Cindy & Roger and the boys; Larry & Linda; and I think Lee and Heidi were there with the kids. Sorry I missed you guys. Weather was chilly, but the park was not too crowded.

The rig is all winterized and in storage for the season. So Duane, you will have to start counting the days soon.

Relapse!! Woke up feeling sick!

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history.........

Question;;;;; Have any of you ever replaced the lanolium (spelled wrong)in a camper? Greg and I had a tear in the flooring in the kitchen where the refrigerator slides in and out. I guess something got caught on the floor and it tore a huge rip in it. I am sure there are some of you out there that have done this before. I think Greg and I will tackle this project on our own but would love some words of wisdom.

Tonya:

Most units are built from the frame up. ie. The vinyl floor most likely covers the entire unit front to back and side to side, that means its under the walls, carpet, storage areas, etc. This is why you don't see any type of baseboard trim in a rv like you do in a home. In a home the vinyl goes to the edge of the the wall but not under it (like an rv) requiring base trim.

In my camper (and I suspect most others) the vinyl is only attached to the floor at the edges (under the exterior walls). Although it is held down by interior walls, cabinets and at carpet edges. You can verify this by getting a vacuum (hose) and sucking an area of the vinyl and see if it lifts a little.

I've done vinyl flooring in my home which is glued under the entire surface. This required the installation of underlayment (thin layer of plywood) on which to glue the new vinyl and provide a smooth surface.

Depending on the exact area to be redone you could simply cut out the area to be replaced and cut in a new piece of vinyl using heavy scissors or utility knife getting as close to the edges as possible and then gluing just the edge of the new piece. A larger area might require removing furniture etc.

Laminate flooring (which I have also installed) is nice, but it can be heavy if used in a larger area, sound funky (cheap/plastic like) when walked on, requires baseboard trim, and will increase the height of the floor when transitioning to other areas, under doors, etc. Laminate would be good if you plan to replace the entire floor in the whole rv.

Tonya: My rig was build the same way. They, laid the vinyl first, then the wonderful shag carpeting in all the right areas, followed by a protective layer of heavy clear plastic, then all the walls, cabinets, beds, and well you get the picture. If I was going to replace carpeting or flooring, I think the slides would be the biggest issue. You may want to search the forums on this subject and see what others may have run into?

Hi Tonya,

Many units may have the lineoleum wall to wall under the carpet etc. but I know for a fact our 5er does not. I asked them at the factory because I do not like carpeting (except I do realize that it is a manditory in the slides). Try putting a question regarding your make of unit on the 5th wheel forum to see if anyone else has had this problem. Lori

We're back! CP was warm on Fri. night, very windy on Sat. and beautiful weather Sun.

I want everyone to know I had an almost perfect no cook week-end until Sun. when I got the look that I shouldn't mention eating out and had to cook.

Anita, your mother is in our thoughts and so are you.

Glad to read Fred and Robin and getting back to normal.

Larry, Linda and I are having a great time.

Somehow I seriously doubt it.
