Do it! But be careful, when you discover how great boondocking is you may never go back to a commercial campground. LOL

We have one (Honda 3000) and used it a few times this summer. We would not like to be without it.

I would recommend against it. For example you might find you like camping in more primitive areas and then you would end up going to see something like Yellowstone or Glacier and many other wonderful and beautiful national Parks and areas. NOPE you better send one or both of them to me and I will very carefully dispose of them in the proper method for you. You can never be to safe so you better let an expert like me handle them.

Let me know when you need my shipping address!

Thanks. Gary!

I have a design consulting business that I run from home. I have sometimes taken the 5er up into beautiful, remote, NFS CG's several days ahead of DW joining me, and worked with my laptop. For laptop power, I use a 75W inverter, and have a (4) 6V battery bank. I have a 3000W inverter genset that I run for several hours each afternoon or evening to charge the 5er batteries. This allows me the freedom the work from remote locations. I don't need internet while in remote locations.

If you have good work ethic, it is surprising how much work you can complete while enjoying camping in remote beautiful locations. Yah know....work for a while, take a break and go catch a fish, come back and work some more, take another break and walk around a near empty NFS CG, come back and work some more........

Good luck.

I bought my TH especially for boondocking. I am not an RV park kind of guy. With that said, I have an onboard genny in the TH and also a 2000 Honda that I had before I bought the TH. I use the Honda instead of the onboard genny about 90% of the time because it's quieter.
I see lots of people praising parallel Hondas but imho lugging two of those suckers around would be a pain where you sit. Instead of spending another $1K I'd just get a Champion for $300 and mount it to the back of your TT. If you just have to have a Honda, then I'd sell the 2000 you have and buy a Honda 3000. Costwise will be about the same as 2 Honda 2000s.

The 2-2000's or one 3000W is another aspect. Lot of people chose 2-2000 because of lighter weight, but than they have to deal with parallel set, pull two cords, worry about extended run tanks.
I bought 3000 Honda generator and still can carry it alone for 100'. Since I carry it in my storage bay that is less than a foot above the ground I usually don't even bother my son to help me slide it out on the ground.
Than with 2.5 tank I had the generator powering 15k AC at full blast for 15 hours. No hassle, quieter than 2000 and I didn't even bother to install the battery for starting. Never had to pull it more than twice.
Also heard there are remotes available for 3000? Could remote be consider freedom?

For the same kind of reason we went to a Yamaha 2400. 2000 just wasn't quite enough to run our 13.5 AC and 3k was just too much (and a bit heavier, I can still lift 75lb into the back of the truck).

PS I run the set while still in the back of the truck. Isolates the sound a bit better.

Just an update to my thread. I turned down the second generator because of money (Christmas is coming and I have 3 kids!) and decided to give it a try and not run A/C, then if I really like it I'll grab the other one next year or something. However, after I turned it down my bosses decided to bless me with a little Christmas gift and they purchased the second one and the wire kit as part of my Christmas bonus. Merry Christmas! It just came last week and the UPS guy brought two out of the truck, I thought there was a mistake. Nope, just a big ole' Christmas surprise.

So now I just have to figure out how to hook these things up. I can't wait to get "off the grid"!

Hi All.

We say go for it. Having a Generator, or two of the Honda EU2000i's and the Paralla Kit, brings a whole new meaning to the word already being "Self Contained RV". Unless you have an alful lot of money, and a very big RV to totally cover your RV's roof with Solar Panels, and a masive Battery Bank. A Generator is the way to go. It opens up a whole new world to you. We perfer to do mostly Dry-Camping/RV'ing. Its nice to never have to worry about having enought power. With our Twin Honda's, and Paralla kit, and the Honda Extended Run Tank, we can go any where we please. It also makes it even better if you have a 3 Stage Smart Converter/Charger, as it greatly reduces the Generator running time needed to fully recharge your Battries. Its also nice to be able to be in the High Country and Mountains and such, and not have to worry about if there is enought sun to charge with solar RV'ing is even cheaper, if you don't need to pay for Campsites. We have no regreats about buying our Twin Honda's, and would do it all over again, if we had to. Good Luck. Happy Campiing. Dan & Jill

Nice to be able to pull the curtain and see nothing but woods and wildlife instead of trash cans and wild neighbors. I'm sure they are nice people, but...
Try it, you might like it. Last time I had a 150 point buck walk in and check us out. I was unprepared (unarmed) so we just looked each other over. I promised to meet him later so he left after demonstrating how high he could jump. Pretty impressive.
