With the Feb 09 digital conversion for TV antennae, has anyone hooked up the required converter yet? I have (most do) an amplifier between the external antenna and the TV. Does it need to be connected before the amp?

This has been covered ad nauseam in the Technical Forum. If you do a topic search you'll find pages of threads on the topic. A lot of us have already connected our converters. The converter goes in-line just before the TV just like if you connect a DVD/VCR. It's not difficult.

Not sure how true this is... hopefully someone will be able to weigh in and shed some light... Does the outside antenna have to be the digital version?

My understanding is that it does not need a digital antenna, have not tried mine yet, but what I have read says existing batwing antenna will work fine.

Hook the converter between the amp and the tv, nothing else is needed. I have been using mine for 6 months

If a person is in the business of selling antennas then they'll tell you that you need a new antenna. Your current antenna will work fine. The frequencies are the same it's just that they're going to be broadcast in digital form instead of analog. Unless you want to help an antenna saleman send his kid thru college just leave your current antenna as is. Your antenna doesn't know the difference between a digital signal and an analog signal.

Nor does the amp know the difference! It is amasing with all the effort the government put into this conversion that they complete ignored the RV and Marine industries. I got the two coupons for the house and installed one on the boat and one in the trailer. Taking both boxes South for the winter in the trailer. Chris

My original Wineguard antenna works great on the digital channels. The old anolog channesl are snowy and switching to the digital channel of the same station comes in crystal clear. The antenna on the top of your RV will work just great.

I highly recommend the DTV Pal converter box if you haven't bought one yet. My guess is the standard amplified RV antenna is better than most of the so-called DTV antennas out there.

No need for the sarcasm... I was just asking an honest question. Thanks for the actual info though. Camp Well!
