Just got the 2009 Milepost from Amazon. Don't know if they had this last year (my old one was a 2007)- but now you can get it online with a priority access code you get with your hard copy.
I did get access and it is very handy. The online edition has a 2008 cover - but I am sure they will update it.
We are catching the Port Hardy to Prince Rupert ferry in the middle of June

I expect that the digital version is a test using an outdated version. If it's popular they'll offer it as an option to buy and if it's not popular you won't see it again. Because that's how business works....

An online digital version wouldn't be too handy in the places we visit ... no internet access in the boonies! I wish it was possible to download Google Earth to disk for access while in the bush too. Even if Google Earth sold their product similar to how Garmin GPS does theirs, by geographic area, I'd be happy.

How large is the digital version? I don't want to exceed my 5GB per month limit!

I didn't see the digital version of MP 2008 available at Amazon.com. But if the digital version is available would it be for the Kindle? Would a Kindle work in small towns in B.C. or the Yukon? They probably have 3G cell service in that area but would it be free with the Kindle or would they charge for downloads like they do if you use it for email or surfing?

As far as I know, you can only get the digital version AFTER you purchase the hardcopy. There is a code in the hardcopy which must be entered on Milepost website to download the digital version. The 2009 digital Milepost will be available March 16 from Milepost.

I have no idea whether or not the digital Milepost is available for the Kindle. However, if it is, you'd download it to your Kindle before leaving the U.S., so having access to the Sprint network wouldn't be a concern in Canada.

I'm thinking about Alaska for 2010. Would I be better off to wait until the 2010 book comes out next year? If, like this year's, it isn't available until the middle of March, that doesn't leave a whole lot of time to study it before leaving, does it?

Also, I hate to ask this, but is the print really small in the Milepost? I'm noticing problems even with reading glasses when trying to read that small print in the Passport America and Woodalls directories. Thanks.
