We have been looking at the Tiffin built of the Fred chassis. Any comments? How is the noise level on the coach on long mountain pulls. Maintenence concerns? This time we would like to buy close to the factory, any recomendations for Tiffin dealers?
Thanks

there are a few good threads here on just that. Highlights include the love of Tiffin in general and FRED owners being a happy happy bunch. Actually there are quite a few Happy Tiffin FRED owners

Have you looked at the RED?? The RED is very close to the MSRP of the FRED and you get air suspension, air brakes and raised rail chassis for more basement space.

Might go over to www.tiffinrvnetwork.com. Lots of FRED owners on the site and a recent review of RED. Good luck.

I like mine. You might want to check with La Masa RV in San Diego. That's where mine came from, but had it delivered to Tucson.

If you buy east of or near the Mississippi, I have heard the delivery cost is significantly less than to the west cost area. Can't confirm because we paid no delivery cost. I think it may be built into the base price. Something to be aware of anyway. My opinion, the RED is worth looking at, but the Bay is alot more MH. Better quality furnishings, finishing etc. The RED is equipped like a Open Road. If you add in the option cost (if even available) you are getting into one or two year old Phaeton pricing. But some think having a DP is important. I happen not to. I have heard they are coming out with a bunk RED that may be a important feature depending on your needs.

I have never owned one but was curious and had to take one out for an extended test drive. We have owned dp's and I was use to air ride, but we took it out on hwy 70 on a windy day, I actulally drove our coach there so I had a fair comparison. The floor plan was incredible loved it; but the drive was in no way close to a dp. Very hard to handle in the wind and I noticed I was running sixty were I had been doing seventy and very relaxed in the dp. It was no different in my opion other then the diesel engine & generator then a gas coach. For the money you can get to many air ride coaches and dp's either slightly used(best way) or new that are far superior in ride and drive

We like our FRED a lot and love the 34XB floorplan when it is parked which is about 99% of the time. However, when we hit a stretch of bad road during that 1% it would be really nice to have air ride. Engine noise is very low except when the engine revs up like during downshifts for hill climbing or braking. It is the fan that makes the noise. Because it is front engine the fan does not run during normal driving, even on the hottest days.
The RED did not exist when we bought ours but today I would certainly take a look. I recommend this review: http://www.rvcruzer.com/2009_36QSA.htm

Just a note hear , do your homework as the Allegro Open Road Fred has a smaller HP engine and a lighter load Allison trans. That translates to less ccc and less gcvw. The Allegro Bay has bigger both , along with the base price. But the Bay is REALLY nice.
