Yes, I checked the reservation website, and there is nothing available for the days we wanted... we may stay at Awenda instead... that is, if there is any space available there...

The summer help is mainly students and if you weren't allowed breaks and only allowed to eat your lunch if there were no customers in the office and didn't get vacation pay and had to pay union dues even though you don't belong to the union (4% vacation pay is the law in Ontario as is a 30 minute eating period away from work per 4 hours worked) you might not be too happy either!!!!! That is the way of Ontario Parks.

I'm gonna keep my mouth shut on this one, cause you won't like what i have to say about this reply! Right now, most should be happy just having a job!
I stood in the ranger station the one morning, only there to ask about the weather...one guy was taking care of a camper, three young ladies were looking at the computer screen, and having a chat..did not look at me once, but hey, i'm on vacation...no hurry i guess. Folks, the number one rule in any business, if you are in eye contact of a customer, you at least acknowledge them....and i am, like all others in that park, a customer. When you drive by in a maintainance truck, does it hurt to smile, to wave? Like i said, if you don't like the job, someone else would be very happy to do it for you!

i was at the pinery in sept...in on a sunday, out on a wednesday. upon arrival, three students in the gatehouse, and i stood there for at least four mins. before one accually looked my way, then proceeded to help me book in....that was the first of a few things that eerked me at that park....won't go back..won't recomend it either
Was at the Pinery last week for 6 days, November 4 thro to Nov 9th - Gate Staff were very friendly and helpful, as were all the other staff that we had contact with. We camped on site 483 across from the new comfort station with the rather high coat hooks in the shower areas.

That's great!
It's hard enough during the summer to get ressies as it is. BTW there is no other place on Lake Huron in Ontario or Michigan that has beaches as nice as the Pinery's.
Also I'm getting to old to wait for people, I now tell people to come help me rather than waiting for them to notice I'm alive. I have a teenage son I know how their brains work
