Have frends traveling in Minnesota and they are having problems getting a signal from their dome to the direct tv receiver. The dome says it's locked on to a signal but the direct receiver says no signal. I was thinking it might locked on to a Canadian sat. Any ideas anyone--

My dome will lock onto other sats, but the beauty of the Direct receivers is that the signal meter will not recognize any sat except the 101.

Have them call DirecTv and have them send a signal. Also check all connections.

I think they called direct and they said there was no problem with the direct. I ask them if they could manually move the dish in the dome and they said no. I had this problem with my automatic dish locking on to the wrong sat, and I could move mine in manual to find the correct signal. These problems always happened when we were in the northern states.

I have a Kingdome dish and a directv receiver, and it's common for the dome to lock onto the wrong satellite. I set the receiver to sat 101, transponder 19. If the dome locks on to a sat and I don't get anything on the screen, I just hit search button for the dome and it'll go to the next sat. I repeat this until I get a picture on the tv screen.
