I have a 05 Jaco 25E trailer and the roof saged down due to ice dammage over the winter... Jayco sent me a new roof, glue ,rubber and 4 tubes of self leveling caulking......now the fun starts never done one .....need advise...I power washed the tt...I am thinking about buying a new skylite(for the shower) vent and cover for the bath, vent covers,ac gasget, new vent cover and base for the fridge...also new trim and inserts and new screws......I am also thinking about raising the center of the roof whare the AC sits and tapering it off to the sides, front and rear with iso pannles (comercial styrefome roof insulation pannles ) under the ac and under the rubber to prevent water from ponding around the ac unit...maby 4'x16' in the center of the roof tapering from 2" to 0....any thoughts or Ideas would be appreaciated....If any one has doon a roof structure i would love to talk to you .....THANKS

I have no experience doing what you are proposing and no advice...except, you are one BRAVE man. (and maybe just a little crazy).
Good luck.

Don't know what you expect to gain by sloping, except more weight---possibly a slight gain in insulation....you'll need solid wood below and above the foam to prevent foam from compressing with the weight of the A/C----and you're asking for trouble with just foam under EPDM...why not just add hardwood frame to raise the A/C mount, and run the EPDM over it?

IF you correct the sag properly, you shouldn't have any ponding.

Good luck!

If it was me I would certainly investigate the possiblity of adding a radius to the existing roof trusses to slope from the center to each side. An inch or two would certainly be beneficial if you can cut the lumber to nail to the top of each truss. That would create several issues though: (1) you would need to make sure that you have enough EPDM to accomodate this, (2) you have to make uniform sloped trusses, (3) you probably need a nail gun to install these, I wouldn't pound nails in on those existing trusses,(4) may have to box out the A/C openining and any other similar openings, (5) need to make sure vent stacks etc. can be accomodated, (6) make sure a transition at each end is provided for, etc. Need to think it out carefully before going ahead, I probably missed a few issues to consider.

when it's all said and done, if it was me, I would slppe the trusses from side to side if possible.

I think sloped is a much better design than flat as it sheds the water better. With that said you will need to figure out the transisition to the front and back walls as they are flat now. See pics below of the back of my unit with a sloped roof. The back wall is higher in the middle to meet up with the slope of the roof (you see it best if you compare the relationship of the running lights to the roof line). You would most likely have to transition the roof slowly back to flat in the front and the back to meet the existing walls.

I hope to gain 2 things first water runoff and second to disperse the weight of the AC unit...I plan on using comercial roof foam you can walk on it without leaving footprints It is verry light and dense...i might add an aluminum 14" box extension and maby a peice of flat aluminum to the top of the foam to disperse the weight of the AC..To correct the sag I am replacing the hole roof structure with a new one...the roof weighs 690 lbs i already have the roof, new rubber, glue, and self leveling sealer...the foam to taper the roof is so the sag dosent happen again.....

Myself I would let the dealer do it. Jayco had Bourbon R.V. put a new roof on my EXP 254 and they had to install what looked like a trolly and winch set up to do the job. Certainly nothing I would want to tackle. If you do try it, GOOD LUCK.

Well I have 2 loaders that i can use to lift the roof....I plan on only using one ...i would normally use the dealer but i plan on building up the center of the roof with structial roof insulation so the water drains off the roof...i should never have a roof problem again....I have already taken apart the inside of the trailer and removed the fridge, and the AC and vents off the roof...i plan on replacing all the vents and covers on the roof eith new...
