Is there a good (and not cost prohibitive) device to rnsure internet access when and where ever you travel????

I connect my Blackberry to my laptop. Works well wherever my phone works. My company pays for the phone, which I would have even if I did not connect it to my laptop, so in effect my personal mobile internet is free.

I've had good luck with the Verizon Air Card, using a Cradlepoint wireless router, Wilson amp and Wilson outside antenna mounted on top of our mh.

I too use a Verizon aircard and a wireless router. I don't have an external antenna nor an amplifier, but I seem to be getting along fine without them so far.
I'm not sure this counts as "not cost prohibitive" though, as the monthly charge for the aircard is about $60.
For us, it still seems to be the best solution, even at the high cost.

WiFi so far is about the cheapest, except for using your Internet capabilities off a cell phone tether you already may pay for browsing. However, WiFi isn't any everywhere deal. Even at an RV park that has it -- the signal can be iffy. An Air Card from a cell provider that has great coverage is about the next best thing. I don't know if you'd call thier monthly charge with 2 year contract cost prohibitive or not. That depends on your need/desire to have Internet service. Satillite is the most solid but it too will cost a good bit. I'd call all the Cell companies and Satillite providers to know all the details for sure. We use the air card and have been quite satisfied with it.

All cell phone providers offer a tether program. Mine is AT&T. About 50 bucks a month.....Dennis

Are you saying Cost does not matter? If so, I would suggest you look at a satellite system like Motosat or a tripod system. Then your only problem will be something blocking your view of the southern sky. I visit places where there is no cell phone service and always have internet.

I use Alltell's UM175 wireless usb modem. You can plug directly into a usb port with the modem or it comes with a wye cable that will let you plug into 2 usb ports and set the modem in a window some distance from the computer if needed. It has worked everytime for me all over the U.S. Not particularly cheap at 60.00 some dollars a month,but it works great.

Virgin Mobile is similar, but without the tether. You buy the usb hardware and the air time, nothing else. You can purchase at Best Buys.

This year we bought a Sprint aircard. Had to sign up for two years at about $50 per month.
It worked great whenever we wanted it to, all the way to California, and back through Utah, Wyoming, etc.
Of course, it only works where you can get Sprint service.
Before you criticize someone, always walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you DO criticize them, you will be a mile away, and have their shoes.
