Apria has the Liquid Oxygen(LOX)tanks by Caire and the Helios Marathon (if I remember correctly).
I am already on oxygen. Have any of you switched from gas to liquid? Did the insurance company complain or refuse to pay the difference? I am on Medicare and Tricare For Life. I think Tricare will pay if Medicare won't.
Second question is refilling LOX on the road --- If I have Apria containers, do I always have to go to Apria to fill it?
Anyone know what it costs to fill the larger tanks? While I like the idea of less noise and the small bottles lasting 8 hours or more, if we have to plan our trips on Apria locations, the heat and noise may not be so bad.
HI I would say if you refill your tanks at home. I would ask them about your travel plans and how one would go about filling one while traveling. Maybe someone else has a better answer but it's just a thought.

We tried traveling with liquid O2, found it to be a real pain. Bought a Sequal Eclipse concentrator and haven't been happier. IMO you should at least consider one. They run on 120 VAC, or car/RV battery, or their own internal battery.

I called Apria's Travel Dept and they seem to think it is no big deal. THAT was why I came here, to ask the people who have to live with it.
But your idea is a good one, contact your provider to see if they will deliver, etc.
Chuck, the noise of the concentrator bothers my wife. It is setting at the front end of the MH but can be noisy. Platinum XL 5 I think it is called. Having an oxygen provider that delivers is nice. Having to drive to their place of business would be a pain.
I travel with a SeQual Eclipse concentrator and put it in the bathroom on a towel with a 50ft hose and close the door. It is so quiet that I am not bothered like I was when I had to use a regular sized concentrator. I also travel with LOX, which I prefer. Lincare or Apria have no problems filling LOX travel tanks and they have so many places that it is easy to get to their businesses. Lincare moreso than Apria. It is my understanding that Medicare pays for LOX no matter how much you use with 20% copay and secondary insurance pays the rest. (at least that is the case for me). I prefer using the Helios for moving around instead of pulling the eclipse. The LOX travel tank lasts about 2 weeks on 2L during the day and I use my Sequal at night. Lincare and Apria have booklets listing all their places in every state. We call ahead to let them know we are coming as sometimes they will just exchange a full tank for your empty.
