Most ads I have seen the sellers are asking low to average NADA retail and saying the price is 50k to 100k under bluebook or wholesale. When questioned about their less than accurate statements some act offended and some are scams, beware of the good deals and really check them out. A lot of the overpriced units are by sellers that are upside down on their loans. A lot of the individuals on ebay have their heads in their @#$%^ or in the clouds and are hoping to grab a lot of dollars from people that don’t understand the value of what they are buying. If you are buying a used RV and plan on selling it later remember that banks don’t finance RVs 10 years old or older or with 100k miles or more on them which will cut down considerably on the buyers for your RV so make sure you are paying the right price when you buy it in order to cut your losses when you sell it. A good place to get accurate prices on used RVs is your bank. Call a loan officer and tell them what you are looking at and they will give you the wholesale, trade, and retail prices. You will find that their figures are much more accurate than what sellers tell you.
What you described is exactly what I have been experiencing, thus, more repo's than ever. From my research you should expect to pay a maximum of 10% below low retail.
One of the things you metion did not cross my mind. About people trying to get financing for motorhomes more than 10 years old or with high mileage, (although 100K on a DP isn't too much)
There are a bunch of DP's on Ebay that just get listed over and over and over again with no bids. Those are just people advertising their phone number so those listings are out.
I've got time and cash, so I'll be patient. There is one that I love right now so I am hoping the guy will come to his senses.

Try this NADA site- http://www.nadaguides.com/home.aspx?l=1&w=28&p=0&f=5000&aid=80698&iid=58778&nozip=1
I look up vehicles often on this site. They list wholesale and retail.

In all my life I have found that it's all about supply and demand.
Of course buying a new unit with warrantee is a lot easier to determine value because your not worried about where it's been and what problems may be lurking under all that bling.
Just my 2 cents.

If the price was below wholesale they could walk into most dealers and get the cash.
Wholesale is probably another 10k to 20% lower than they are willing to settle.
If you want wholesale then test drive it down to a dealer and ask him his price to buy it.

I am looking online for a way to purchase this info. If I find any, I will report back.
As someone has suggested, take your model numbers to your local library, they will have the NADA guide and you can get the wholesale prices out of there for current period.

Dealers won't pay wholesale now because they either don't have the cash or they have too much inventory already.
And the prices PPL is asking are often waaaaay over NADA on the older coaches. But that's not what the sold ones are bringing. So they're playing dealer as usual - ask way too much and see how much they can squeeze out of the buyer.

You can purchase the Recreation Vehicle Appraisal Guide here.
To get in the "ballpark" of dealer wholesale multiply the "Average Retail" found in the online NADA Appraisal Guide .7775. I went to my local library and used their Recreation Vehicle Appraisal Guide to research about 20 different makes and models. After I got their numbers I did some calculations and found an average. I also found that the Dealer Retail in the Recreation Vehicle Appraisal Guide is equal to the Average Retail in the online NADA Appraisal Guide.
Lots of folks on the forum talk about the great deals that are out there. I like you, have been looking for about a year now. Most of the nicer used coaches I have seen and tried to negotiate for have been way over NADA Average Retail and the dealers don't want to budge. I have not tried to negotiate with private owners because their prices are way out of line.
Good luck in your search for the coach.

I have been saying for years that it’s the newer used rigs that are taking the biggest hits. If you want deep discounts stick to the 10 year old and newer segment.
If you’re looking at older, say 10-15 year old, top end DP’s you are simply not going to steal them. The only group of class A’s that enjoy a stronger market are 15-20 year old top end rigs! After 15 years they reach a point that if well maintained they simply do not depreciate any further.
As an example, you will never be able to buy a well maintained and in good condition 1991 Foretravel for 20K dollars no matter how many years you wait. Inflation will insure that.
