In AUG. 2008, We overnited in Amarillo at Amarillo Best Wonderland RV. We picked this park because it was on the North side of town and we were taking 287/87 to Raton, NM. The park itself was ok and clean, the staff was nice but in the middle of the night there was a vehicle came through the park with a boom box so loud that it shook our 5th, this lasted quiet awhile. That toll me that the avertised security was non existant. Also when I dropped the 5th and went to the closest fuel stop, there was a lot of undesireables just hanging out at the convenience store. May not the best part of town. I WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN!-----John

Sorry wrong date in original post. Haven't been anywhere since 2008 until 2 weeks ago because of and injury. Lots of people going east to west and while this park is not on I-40 it is Good Sam's recomended. Typing primarily with one hand, sorry about the mix up-------John

The OP edited the post. I am sure that he originally had a date earlier than the Aug 2008 that is there now.

Thanks to the OP for providing his experience at this RV Park.

Were 120 miles from Amarillo and have stayed in several nice parks. Oasis is to far west, and too windy. Amarillo Ranch is OK and have had good times there. Our favorite, and you can take the north loop around to the west. Just about 1/4 miles north of I40 take a RH turn and it will take you to Fort Amarillo RV park. It is very nice and very good people. We stay there for a week at a time, or if we have a doctors visit, we may make a long week end of it. Nice place to stay, and have never been bothered by noise. The north side of Amarillo is the area where it could get dangerous.

Did you discuss the boom box situation with the staff?
