Within about 500 miles of Maryland, does anyone know of a good campground with horseback riding close by? We are not experienced riders, but my wife would like to spend a few days riding.
Artillery Ridge in Gettysburg you can take the horseback tours. I stayed in other campgrounds in Gettysburg but not this one so I cannot tell you how the campground is but I did enjoy the horseback tours of the battlefield from there.

We recently stayed at this park and enjoyed it very much. They have a separate equestrian camping section and miles of trails. The Rangers there are very friendly and helpful. I suggest you call and speak to the Head Ranger, named Zabo.
Trackrock Campground Cabins and Stables in the mountains of north Georgia at Blairsville, GA. Wonderful campground open all year with a award winning riding stable. Trackrock Campground Cabins and Stables
Big South Fork on the border of Kentucky and Tennessee. We do not ride but when we were there several years ago there were several dozen people there with horses. Try and get information from someone who has horse camped there rather than just noticed them.
There are also several horse campgrounds in the nearby National Forests.
