Run of the year. I got bored with my own cooking and that afforded by Kitimat and Terrace cookeries...headed off to Prince Rupert Friday late morning, to eat at Chances Casino Bar/Grill. The drive west alongside the Skeena River was gorgeous. Wet..but..that's where I live. (I took some vids and you can view them on my Blog if you are of a mind.) Living up here means shopping at Safeway for Airmiles..so I did that in Rupert..then off to Chances Casino..just to poke my nose in and say hi to the security desk. It's always easier to say howdy and make nice for a few minutes and mention my intent to have supper..right after my nap 'in the motorhome in the parking lot'..they then know who's IN the motorhome and what's what...and yeah...there was only one..it's not a destination this time of year.
Had my two hour nap and strolled in...a martini(2) and an appy plate of spicy prawns, mussels in a cream sauce and a crab/yam cake..then my entree ..rack of lamb..glass of Merlot with supper..no dessert, thanks. This all took about 3 hours, I guess. Read papers and had a book with me. The place has a **** rating and it really does serve it up!
I drove back east about 30k's to a rest area on the Skeena..pulled in, lights out..and slept like a baby until 7 am. Was back in Terrace by 8, had breakfast at the Northern Motor Inn and was home in Kitimat by 11.
If that was the last for 09....it was a good one to go out on.

Thanks for the report Gary. Makes us want to go back to Prince Rupert and especially that part of BC. When we got off the ferry after our overnighter from Ketchican, it was very early Saturday morning, the line was long going through customs and it was rainy. I was tired and the motor home was acting up, but we made the beautiful drive to Terrace. I pulled into the Wally World, the wife went in a bought some stuff and we all grabbed two or three hours sleep. By the time we stopped to camp just outside of Smithers, the rain stopped and it was a beautiful late July day. Later, I learned that I had a fouled plug on the rig.
Next time we take the blue canoe to AK, we'll build in a little time in PR so we can partake of some good food. Bob
GW, sounds like to me, that a full fledged member of the Possum Lodge, Kitimat Chapter, would be out camping all winter. I bet Red Green doesn't put his camper away for the winter. Think how nice it would be to come in from being chased by a bear, to your nice warm camper and buddy there to warm your toes, or visa versa. I am surmising that the Kitimat harbour and inlet must stay ice free all winter so you can combine camping and using your new boat.

For anyone going to Canada, especially western Canada, for the first time, watching a few of the old episodes of the Red Green TV show, will give them a head start on understanding many of the men they will meet in the north country. LOL Having a Celine Dion song playing in the background and you have it all. Time in Canada is measured as BC and AC. Before Celine and after Celine.
Before any of the Canuk members of the forum get their undies in a bunch, remember to "keep your stick on the ice" and relax as you have a long cold winter ahead of you. LOL
I spent 10 days in PR this June. Loved every minute of it. Funny if you ask a local where he caught his salmon they all say the same place: "In the water." Great food, friendly people. I'll be back.
