I have finally had it with the radio in my Seneca. I believe it is the magnadyne that some have complained about, the complaints are justified. I need help regarding the removal. How do I go about getting it out of the dash? I know there are many handy and helpful people out there and I thank you in advance. Recommendations about what to replace it with would also be appreciated.

If your radio is the same as my Jayco Greyhawk you will need to use the pair of prongs that came with the radio.

The prongs should be in your radio owners manual - in the plastic bag.

You insert the prongs on each side of the radio and pull out.

Bill, I replaced my stock radio with an Eclipse AVN-6000 three years ago. It has been a great unit after 10,000 miles and some of Alaska'a rough roads, it has held up well. It fits in the Seneca's double DIN mounting perfectly and suplies all the bells and whistles in one package. Accurate GPS and a 7" touch screen with vibrant colors. Large harddisk music storage....just insert a CD and it automatically "rips" the album, permanently copies the music and stores album/track info, and then ejects the CD. No more fumbling for CD as you are driving. Provides a "back up" camera screen when in reverse, and screen tilts out for easy viewing.

Craig

P.S. The grey plastic dash assembly just pulls off in two pieces.....one large and one very small piece under the steering column.

Like Craig stated you need to pull the trim panel bezel out first. GM manual says to start left of steering wheel. By pulling it out. Then go to the right side. When both sides are loose pull out from the center. Here is a picture that shows the bezel. Some wire will need to be disconnected.

I have the dash apart,( hope I can get it back together) and the radio removed. I have been online trying to find a replacement and it seems it may be more difficult than I expected. Craig thanks for your input but I already have a GPS. What I want is a decent radio, CD player, and EXM- Sirius combo that fits.
Any suggestions will be welcome.

THanks, Bill

I did a double din (I think this is what it is called) to a single din radio a couple of years ago. I cannot find the info I posted on here with the upgrade. I posted it on the Kodiak forum here. Radio Upgrade. If you are not a member yet just sign up. If my memory is right the Jayco come with a aftermarket radio. Which means you should not need some of the cables that my conversion needed. If you need more info please ask.
Check Crutchfield for a radio with the options you want.

I have been in touch with Cructhfield and they were great. Spent lots of time and covered many things including whether there is an amp in the system which powers the extra speakers. This I couldn't answer so I am asking how your installations went and if anyone knows about an extra amp. They explained that with a special harness the chimes will work and that in some states they are required for inspection.
They are treating this as a Chevy Silverado dash because they don't have info on the Kodiak. Does this make sense?
Thanks, Bill

My chimes do not work. Best thing I did. No more annoying chime. No inspection in MI. Still get lights. I used the Silverado kit. No amp in our MH's. I believe the upgraded Bose system has the amp.

Update. Thanks to all for their input. I have completed the removal and installation of a new radio. The dash does come apart and go back together, it takes courage to just pull it apart but this does work and it goes back together easily. You just line up the clips and push.
The wiring harness is another issue. Cructhfield sent me all I needed and more. They were also very helpful. I wound up not using the harness they sent which was made for a Chevy Silverado. Since there was a harness in place for an aftermarket radio and I found that the chimes worked even when the radio was removed I just cut off the 16 pin connector to the radio off and spliced in the one for the replacement radio matching the wires by color. The radio works just as I had hoped it would, all speakers work.
I highly recommend Crutchfield, they were patient and informative. The job was doable and if you feel comfortable and don't like the Jayco radio, go ahead and replace it.

Thanks, Bill
