Thought that some might like to see the info below. I received it from a friend.
"We are here at the Western Pushers rally in Las Cruces. In the seminar this afternoon, a manager from Car Quest Auto parts gave a talk.
A surprise to me is that they handle motorhome parts related to engine and chassis. I asked him for a air filter for a Cummings 330 and to my surprise he asked me for the part number. I gave it to him, him called his store and they had it out to me in about 15 minutes. In talking to him more they have many motor and generator parts including ONAN."
Though some may already know this I sure did not.

Went to Car Quest last week to get a part for my generator with a Kubota engine.
All I got from them was stupid looks.
As the saying goes stupid looks are still free.

NAPA stores usually have a good many parts and access to the ones they don't have. Been around a long time. Also, the counter person at O'Rileys told me that they can have most any part "overnight".

But sometimes they're they only place you can get them in a timely manner.

I was told by Carquest, that they made a change to start carrying heavier truck parts about 2 years ago. While they may carry the parts, that doesn't mean the people at the desk have any idea, but to their credit, my local Carquest has been pretty good. You experience may vary.

I went into my local Carquest for an "O" ring for my kitchen faucet.
The kid asked what kind of car the "O" ring was going on so he could look it up on his computer. I told him a Price Pfister. He said who makes that and what year is it?

NAPA does the same....and it's good to have more than one "chain" that can get parts for the motorhome owners.
As far as the post above about the "kid" counter person....that seems to be what's happening...and has been happening for a few years no matter where you go: the "REAL" parts guys....the ones that know....are being phased out (for whatever reason) to be replaced by people (not only "kids") that: "if it's not in the computer, it don't exist".
Progress.

I work at an Advance Auto Parts store. We don't have much for the MH but we do carry most stuff in that F350 sort of range. We can order most items but it takes time. As to the counter help, most are just people who know the basics, we depend on the computer to nail it down. Each store has a few ASE cert parts guys who know what's going on. It's not an easy job, there are a lot of parts now days.

Hmmm, I thought you went to Home Depot or Lowes for plumbing parts, not an auto parts store.
