We have spent several seasons here boondocking in the BLM LTVA. Thousands do that and up to a million or more RVers stop or pass through here each season.
So what beside the RV shows you hear so much about is there to do all winter... First check out the article I did about Quartzsite. What is this place called Quartzsite? Next if you want more check out The Largest Gem and Mineral Club in the Nation. There are classes and instruction offered in general lapidary, silversmithing, wire wrapping, lost wax casting, faceting, opal cutting, stone carving, and knapping. They also have a weekly rock collecting field trip, and there are weekly 4wd trips to old mines and other remote sites in the area. Pancake breakfasts and cookouts and every Thursday membership meetings at 2 PM the huge QIA building. Yes Q can be a fun place to spend the winter season. Like they say love it or hate it... Q is one place you should stop and see if it is right for YOU. So if you have been here did you like it and stay or move on.
We went two times the first visit; the first and the last. I would say go and make your own decision. It was interesting to see the lifestyle. We had a good time there.
But for our tastes, it was too dusty, too crowded, not enough to do, not enough shopping, restaurants, etc. When we went there was poor to none cell service, no OTA TV stations, poor to none internet. The low rent isn't that big of an attraction to us, we would rather pay and get sewer, water and 50A electric.
it's not a place I'm interested in staying more than a couple days...just long enough to browse the kiosks. DH likes looking at tools; I like looking at gems and rocks. You can find good buys on that stuff.
but overall, as a camping area, I find it windy, dusty and seedy looking.

I don't know when you were there, or what service you use, but there is EVDO service in Quartzsite for both Verizon and Sprint, so air cards work great...don't know about the other cell services. Cell phone signal strength for both Verizon and Sprint are also strong here.
Although we have satellite TV, we have been able to pull in OTA stations from both Phoenix and Yuma

There are RV parks in Q that provide all those things.
