Hi,

This morning my water pump worked fine for me. When it is switched on there is a light that illuminates.

I normally leave the pump off.

Later this morning my wife tried to use the pump.

The light did not illuminate and the pump did not pump.

I tried switching fuses but this seemed to have no effect--although I did note that there was a small "spark" when I put the different fuse in place, and also when I returned the fuses to their original locations.

Any advice on trouble shooting would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

It's your perfectly balanced battery wiring, the current doesn't know where to go!

Perhaps your lines froze overnight. Smack the pump with a hammer lightly, and then if that doesn't work, Get a bigger hammer, then dynamite.

Whatever you do, make sure the wife knows it is her fault.

Well I guess you now know exactly how many days the pump will last.

Actually the problem seems to be the switch or it's wiring.

In my motorhome, there are three switches. Have you tried more than one switch?

I found the relay box next to the pump in my basement, and I can bypass that switch relay box by finding the +12 input and going directly to the pump. This will give a little spark as the pump starts, and is one way to provide power to the pump for the rest of a vacation, until you can get it looked at.

When you want the pump off, just remove the fuse. Otherwise it will turn on and off by it's pressure switch.

If you have a volt meter handy, then you might be able to figure out what is the +12 input to start and stop the pump switch and relay. Then you might be able to figure out how to troubleshoot what is going on and what is not working today.

Good Luck,

Fred.

Check the switch. If that's ok, check for 12v at the pump.

I had the same problem, although the light was on I kept blowing the fuse, the impeller froze, upgraded from Shurflo to Flojet which is easy to tear down, no problems since.

i had trouble like that with my water heater, the switch under the sink burnt up, a dealer in texas said the circut board was bad and charged me $300.00 to change. it was working on gas when i left so i through everything was ok. when i tryed to switch back to electric it would not work. when i took the cover off the switch box it was all burnt up. i just bypassed the switch and it has worked fine. have a switch on the wall to cut it off, don't no why they installed a switch under the sink anyway.

You have 2 clues as to the switch being bad, or lack of juice to it......the lite isn't on, and the pump don't run

I agree with Golden HVAC. There is a pump controller on many rigs with multiple switch locations.
This is one of the common ones. It is hidden near the power distribution center.

Hi,

I'm in a class C--so single switch location.
