Never been there and was thinking of b-docking in that area the days before Thanksgiving. Is there any camping close to the lake (is there still a lake?)

Lord, grant me the senility to not recognize the people I don't like, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference

I was there last week, did not see any boondocking areas except for "Government Wash" There is still a bit of a lake. At government wash the boat ramp has been closed but I did see some 4 wheel drive trucks launching fishing type boats. If I remember correctly Echo bay still has a boat launch and a pay RV parking area.

Boondocking at Echo Bay campground will cost you ten dollars; five with the 'geezer pass'.

Better (meaning free) is Simplot land a few miles south of Overton. Many stay there all winter.

Stewart's Point is south of Overton too; about ten or twelve miles. The road down to the point is kind of bumpy and dusty, but not real bad. Any size RV is okay. There's a vault toilet, but no other amenities.

You can dump and fill for free at Overton Beach. That's all that's there anymore; lake is gone. Oh, there is also a dumpster there.

Government Wash would be my last choice. Too dang close to Las Vegas for me. The couple times we've been there, a lot of gang-looking people around. It was very trashy too.

I think we'll check out Stewarts point first. We're going to ride some atv trails by Logandale so I'm going to take my motorcycle and check out the area on that. Thanks

There is a town of Overton and then there is Overton Beach.

We spent a week on the trails at Overton and Logandale. Great riding and lots of photo opportunities. You are riding just outside the Valley of Fire State park. Seen lots of Dessert Mountain sheep. We boondocked up on the Mesa just south of Overton. We where lucky but it can get very windy up on the Mesa. The Wilderness park on the southern side of Overton across from the Simplot Plant has soom free sites for up to 6 days of free camping. Much more sheltered than up on the mesa.

As said by a previous poster "Government Wash" would be my last choice as well.

Folks do camp at Logandale Trails too. You turn by the VIP Chinese restaurant, cross the railroad tracks and up the hill. We were leery of getting our DSDP in and out, and it would be nasty if it rained.

Yes, you can ride both directions from the Mesa, going west north west is the best riding. Lots of defined trails to explore.
