Thought I'd pass this along! Buy.com is offering the Delorme Earthmate GPS LT-20 USB 12-Channel GPS Receiver w/Street Atlas USA 2008 Software for notebooks at $17.99 which includes Free Shipping here! Worth the price just to get the GPS Receiver Puck. Plus you can use it with Google Earth for GPS Tracking by downloading the free version of Google Earth, along with the free utility Earth Bridge. You might also need to download the DeLorme Serial Emulation Driver. One example on how to set up the Delorme LT-20 GPS Receiver for use with Google Earth can be found at here.

Just a short note - this uses the older non SiRF technology. It will take longer to lock on & will not work as well under poor signal conditions. Not that it won't work - I used one for a number of years, but prefer the new versions.

I've been using the LT20 for about 5 years and from PA-LA-AL-MS-NC-MN-ND-MT-Alberta, BC, Yukon Canada, -AK and most points in between with very few problems with loss of signal. Can't imagine it could be much better.

The Earthmate LT-40 is a BIG improvement over the LT-20. The LT-40 is the first big performance improvement of DeLorme receivers in many years and it puts them on par with SIRF III chip receivers. The LT-20 works fine and I uses it or the USB Earthmate equivalent for years. My only complaint about them was that they were susceptible to interference which could occasionally cause loss of tracking which is a real problem when making a turn. The LT-40 is much faster on initial acquisition also. I keep my LT-20 as a backup. The offer for SA 2008 and LT-20 is fine if you are getting started.
