Be sure to ask your 16 year old daughter what SHE wants to do and see. I am sure she will enjoy everything you will come up with, but I bet she would really like to be involved in the planning and schedule for the day. One thing that I learned is that my 16 year sure was happy when she got involved too.

My daughter and grand daughter now meet me "out on the road" and we often talk about the road trips of many years ago. My grand daughter is already planning her first trip, on the road with me too.

Make lots of memories and not so many miles traveled.

My Daughter has already made some suggestions but my Grand-Daughter is only 2 and we will only be on short trips with her for a while.

Hi Paul !

Glad to hear it. I take from the bold print, you might have been offended by my comment. I apologize.

But I still feel that many forget the point of including their kids in planning. I have no knowledge of you or your plans, only that you asked for any suggestions and that was my intent. My knowledge is gained from past work in National Parks and visiting with young people, as well as being a parent.

I too, would enjoy visiting the eastern area of Canada, you are planning for, and will certainly enjoy reading all of the suggestions.

Paul -

Last year 13 of us TCs toured through Nova Scotia for two weeks. You can see the TRIP REPORT HERE. We could easily go back for a month. Actually as I type this we are camped at the tip of St. Andrews in New Brunswick watching the 25 foot tide roll in.

Hi Bryan:

I am sorry Bryan if the bold print made you think I was offended by your comments. Nothing could be further from the truth. I apologize to you, but I just use bold print evey time I quote someone. I have enjoyed reading your comments and everyone's comments & suggestions and thank everyone for the help.

I highly recommend the Fortress of Louisbourg and taking a whale-watching tour. Best place to go from, IMO, is Brier Island, NS. Cavendish Beach area/Green Gables in PEI should have much to interest a 16-year old girl. Also second the suggestions about the fisheries museum and Lunenburg, NS in general, also Annapolis Royal, NS.

Ossie's Seafood take-out in St. George, NB, and Hall's Harbour Lobster Pound (NS) are great places for fresh shellfish and seafood. There are many church/community lobster suppers in PEI that are worthwhile too. IMO, a trip to the Maritimes should be centered around eating If you want a night on the town, try Chives in Halifax, or Fleur de Sel in Lunenburg.

Have fun down-east. I miss the heat and humidity of ON..bring some with you!

PS, I live just outside Halifax, and know mainland NS and southern NB like the back of my hand..if you have any more detailed questions just PM me. Haven't been to PEI or Nfld in years, sadly.

If you do decide to go to Newfoundland, Lil Kopit will give you the number
to call for the ferry. I would highly suggest having a reservation as far
ahead as possible. Summer is a busy time. Enjoy, although I live in NB,
my favorite is Newfoundland.

Cleaned the camper today, everything is ready to go, my Daughter arrives Friday and we leave Sunday morning. Will be spending a lot of time in PEI and Western Newfoundland. Should be away for a month.

Thanks for all the great ideas.

Paul
