Those would be a better platform for the off-raod class C's like Earthroamer. They were using the commercially available MXT (?) I think for a few of their rigs. Pretty cool rigs, for sure, but a little short on the "bed"!

I don't recall seeing any ER rigs built on the MXT chassis.

I know that Unicat did build one unit on the heavier-duty "military-spec" MXT (23K GVWR IIRC) with plans to produce more but the increased demand from DOD for MRAPs (mine resistant vehicles) dried up their source.

Louie, OP here. SoCal,BTG, maybe it,s time to start looking for the payload, etc. numbers. As I probably have stated, International does not make it as easy to figure out some of the things we deem important, as the big three do. Louie

That is the one I was thinking about and had a brain-fart there when I typed it - it was a one-off, taking a test run around Europe and they planned to do more but it does seem like something happened and they didn't. At least that was the last I saw of it - but I also don't follow much of that stuff anymore....

Ironically, this morning I was pulling into a Denny's in Rock Springs WY and pulled past a guy in an F550 Earthroamer who was exiting and pulling around into another lot with more room and of course parked it crosswise to the spots. I guess he thought the Denny's lot was too tight to park in.....so I of course had to show him how to park and put my rig in backed up to the curb in between parked cars in the row. We were chuckling about it to ourselves and waved back at him when he walked by. I wanted to snag a picture of the two rigs when we left but they beat us out the door. I thought it would make a good tongue-in-cheek photo captioned with something about Rich folk not knowing how to park a truck, the poor turning radius of an F550, or maybe about being embarrassed parking such a nice rig in a Denny's parking lot.

They are very cool vehicles, that's for sure.

Not sure about a F550 but the turning radis on my 08 F450 4 door is better than my 03 F350 extend cab was. And for weight, mine is a 4x4 and 4 door F450 factory pickup (not aftermarket cab and chassis conversion) and weighs in at 9500 empty. So I would think that the Int is going to be much heavier.

Funny how International can have absolutely no problems with the same engine in non-Ford applications.

They (International) use Extended Life Coolant instead of the Ford Gold. Research of the data "suggests" the Ford Gold coolant was and is the probable culprit in the process leading to EGR cooler, oil cooler to head gasket failure. MY +$0.02 Keep it Clean is my moto! Oil, fuel and coolant!

Ford also didn't put a coolant filter on the engine. I'm sure that contributed to the plugged EGR cooler.

Do the International versions have coolant filters on them factory stock?

A dealer mentioned to me, that like their other trucks, you can order a Terrastar with far more options than the Ford or Ram. Louie

What kind of options? My F550 came with air-suspension, heated/a/c seats, DVD, GPS, on-board compressor, and there was a standard p/u bed available. I am curious what else you would put on the truck?
