Yesterday I went to my favorite GM dealer and found out I could order the 2012 Denali dually.
So I sat down and started telling the salesman(friend) what I wanted.
When it got down to the rear camera (mounted in the tailgate) and the rear back up sensors(on the bumper) I didn’t want them…but if I want the Denali package I have to get them.
My question is for those of you that have a rear tailgate mounted camera….is it a pain in the a$$ to unhook it to remove the tailgate when loading the camper.
Next question….My lance 1131 hangs over the back end of the truck….does this mean when I’m backing into a campsite the rear bumper sensors are going to be beeping because the camper is overhanging them.
Those were a couple little thing that bugged me
So for now I have put it on hold .
Hi Dave,
Unhooking the Tailgate on my 2011 Chev 2500HD LTZ, is a breeze, disconnect camera cable, unhook tailgate cables & tailgate lift n slides out Easy, then just as easy to put back on again.
The beeping from reversing sensors, there's a button that stops the beeping, on my LTZ.
I had a 2002 F250 7.3 ltr 4x4 SC LB diesel, and it was primative compared to new technology. Firm, smoother, much guieter, more power.
My new Duramax diesel does 0-60mph/100kph in 8 seconds. New DEF diesel, has no black soot, less smoke & it's a whitish grey burn.
New pickup is white. Bewdyful Mate!
If you don't want to use the camera and backup sensors, you could just leave the camera disconnected and unplug the sensors from the harness, then it would be just like any other truck that didn't have those options.

Takes about 2 seconds to disconnect the camera. The cable is readily accessible when you drop the tail gate down. Unhook the cables, lift and slide out and you're done. I love the backup camera (although I'm pulling a TT not a 5-er).
I have both your concerns and the rear camera is easy to unhook. In fact I am now looking for a camera for the back of my camper so I can plug into my truck.
Rear bumper sensors are as easy to turn off as pushing a button and turn them off.
Quote: You can turn off the sensor with a push of a button on the dash.
Does the button have to be pushed everytime you start the truck or is it once than forget?
In regards to the camera, wonder if it would be possible to purchase a second camera for mounting in the rear of the camper so you can use the built in camera.
