2000 F-350. 195,000 miles. Replaced a water pump and new brake pads. Taking it to Alaska next year. Don't even bother asking me if I might want to trade for something else.

YOU are part of the problem I had trying to find a decent 7.3L! I searched for a year until I found one. Owners that know what they have won't let go!

my neighbor has an 01 7.3 manuel shift with 450,000+ it has had 2 cluthes 3-4 altenaters belts all the reguler stuff and 4 cps's but not one problem with the engine itself but he takes care of it. it looks better than my 08 psd.
You are NOT trying too darn hard to keep this a 7.3 PSD thread as it was your posted words of "Try that with a duramax" that prompted my post in response.
Sorry about the 117,000 miles instead of 144,000 miles, my mistake, not that it makes any difference as you have done a lot of costly repairs already and how knows what looming in the future or just around the corner.
Our Carriage Carrilite scale weighs by itself 12,640 lbs to 12,860 lbs depending on how it's loaded and that's not including our 106 gal with 100 gal usable auxillary diesel tank that sits in the truck's bed or my 22" X 22" X 45" filled tool and storage box right behind the 5'er hitch. Both must be removed to change over to the Lance Camper setup. Yes. it's a PIA! However, there's more. You will usually see our 2150 lb 16 1/2' boat, motor, and trailer and the boat's normal contents behind the 5'er. Yup, a lot more than the 14,000 lbs you mentioned! Total actual scaled weight normally packed to go is 21,842 lbs + or - approx 100 lbs. Or, you may see our boat or our 3300 lb vee nosed loaded 6' X 12' X 6 1/2' high enclosed trailer behind with the Lance Camper setup. Wife is disabled and sometimes the trailer is really needed. The Lance 11' 4" camper scale weighs 3872 lbs when it was shipped from Lance in Lancaster, California. Have the as shipped weight in black and white!
For youe info, you do NOT need to chip the 6.6L Duramax nor would I as it has over 600 ft lbs of torque OEM unlike the much lower torque 7.3 PSD. The 7.3 PSD is a very good earlier design diesel engine and so much better than the 6.0 PSD has proven to be but no where near to torque of the later design of production pickup truck engines and that's why you chipped it and have paid the price of chipped Ford diesel tranny issues. The Duramax has always had the Allison tranny as the standard automatic transmission.
Enjoy your 7.3 and sure hope you don't have a lot more of those "costly" repairs...

You obviously missed the point of my first response. THIS is a thread for 7.3 owners to post their mileage. Most likely those who do post are proud of their trucks. A little tongue-in-cheek bashing of "the other guys" in a thread amongst 7.3 owners is meant to strengthen the bond that we have as 7.3 owners. IF I hurt your feelings by suggesting that a duramax would not be able to handle being run on bad fuel, or even worse GASOLINE, then I'm sorry. The truth hurts sometimes. Just like it hurts when you point out that owning my truck hasn't been cheap. Boo hoo. I'm not going to continue down the path of pointing out issues that people have had with their various makes of trucks. I don't need to defend the 7.3, it does a fine job on its own.
My point is, I can't understand the reasoning behind your original post. Was it malicious intent? What if I had come on here and said "My 7.3 has given me nothing but trouble since the day I bought it," would that have solicited your response? This thread WAS about 7.3 mileage, and it surely wasn't intended to be target of opportunity for duramax or cummins owners to brag about their choice of trucks. Thank you for playing.

I'm not putting down the 7.3 PSD at all. It is what it is and so is the tranny behind it.
Yes, be proud of your 7.3 as it's very good engine as I had said. However, it's NOT comparable to the OEM capabilities of the the later years diesels at all but if it's left UN-chipped, 500,000 miles with proper maintenance 500,000 miles or more engine service life is more than possible to be enjoyed. Chipped and then using the enhanced output quickly creates issues with the OEM transmission as it can't handle higher torque output for long and you have found that out! Your own results has had it's effect on your wallet and will for those who do the same, just a matter of time. Having had 40 years of engineering experience with mainly pickups, vans, and suvs with the "Big 3" has taught me something well on this issue. Play games if you want to but be prepared to pay the piper for your actions and he's not a cheapie!
BTW, I'm so far from being "malicious" but you seem to be very foresight challenged! As your wallet gets thinner and thinner, you will begin to understand, hopefully...
My wallet is doing fine, thank you. My truck is my hobby, I'm lucky that my hobby supports RVing which I have also grown to love. Let's put this behind us as there's really no point in continuing the bickering. I'm glad you are pleased with your Chevrolet and Duramax. I'm pleased with my Ford and 7.3. You worry about your wallet and I'll worry about mine and we will all live happily together.

one of my best freinds whom I race motorcycle with has a C3500 dually
He likes the Allison so much he's had 3 of them installed(all under warrantee)
he also just replaced the whole front suspension last month out of warrantee. All this before 125k. His son just purchased a ford, not sure why, but they take that to our recent riding trips
I have no dog in this fight as I own gas, which is turning 200k trouble free soon.
I just don't see why you feel the need to post here. Much the same as me lol
