Well, after that bearing exploded last week on the left rear of the trailer, I decided to pull everything apart and see exactly what I have underneath my 10 year old toyhauler. I ended up replacing all of the suspension bushings, bolts and nuts. 4 new drums, all new bearings, seals, grease caps, nuts & cotter pins. 3 new complete brake assemblies(the 4th was replaced recently). I flipped the axles myself. All that was required was 4 spring plates($2 a piece) and my time to weld and unbolt-bolt everything back together. So far it has taken me two full days of messing around with it to get it where i'm happy with it. A little over $500 for all the parts, but I sure do feel better about taking this hauler out of town now. The trailer is a 2001 sierra by forest river tandem axle. The axle flipping leveled the trailer out, before it would ride nose-up by about 4". Now it looks to be completely level unloaded.

Isn't it a great satisfying feeling when you finish a job like that and know it's done right! And the peace of mind when you take your next trip is priceless!

Oh, and it is a 5th wheel. Yes, it will be a very smooth ride to the dunes next week!

Congrats!! I had Flemings trailer in Glendale flip my 3 axle F40SPTS Forest River TH. Very good price and nice job.

I swapped out all the original suspension, leafs and everything to HD with greaseable joints. What a diffrence. No more squeaking/sqwacking into campgrounds or anywhere for that matter.Grease them 2x a year.

What Model is your FR TH? I had a F37SP before this one that I miss a great deal. Was actually a better unit in all aspects but i got caught up in the "3 slide-3 axle" frenzy back in 06'-07'.

I'm not sure what model my toyhauler is. It's 32 feet long overall. It's the sierra sport, if that matters. I'm not a big forest river fan after owning one for 3 years. I had the front of the frame bend on me last thanksgiving, and after $10k spent on repairs(insurance), it's the way it should have been from the factory. I wouldn't own another forest river product. I'm gonna use it because I already own it and it works OK, but I think i'm headed in the direction of a class a motorhome with a good size enclosed trailer.

I bought mine from Van's RV on Bell rd. They walked on repairs the first day, causing me to go to the factory. It was in the factory/shop 4 of the first 6 months I had it.

Its been good since it was fixed.

unfortunately the only unit I can use or find right now with a 12' garage in the size I want is Forest river.

If theres a next time, I'm not taking it from the dealers lot until it is what I am paying for.

I will never go to a dealer (stealer) and buy an RV. Just like a new car only way worse, these things depriciate so fast you won't believe it. I prefer to buy most of my things used so I don't take the retail hit. Vans RV is a joke, i've been there a few times. I tried to have some of the factory problems fixed through them, yeah right. They wanted nothing to do with it, and told me to contact the manufacturer in california. I'm just about over toyhaulers. I hate having to unload the second you get there, just to go to bed(usually at 2am). My dad is offering to give me his old 1994 georgie boy gas motorhome. He just got a diesel pusher and has no need for it. I need to do a little maintenance on it, but it should work for the dunes nicely. I would love to have about a 25' enclosed trailer to put all the atv's in, so I can just roll in and go to bed. We'll see how it works out. Roller183-when do you plan on another dune trip? We are heading out next week during the week, and again sometime middle of january.
