Just looked at the Redwoods today and their quality is not as good as the Carriage. Just do not like all of the running gear being made by Lippert.

There only a couple of RV's out there without the Lippert running gear. I toured the factory and looked real close at the frames because of all I've read on this forum about them. They said that Lippert gave them a great proposal so they went with them. Otherwize they were going to build their own. They said that so far they haven't had a single issue with the frames.

I know that it is hard to get away from a Lippert frame but it is easy to find Dexter wheels, brakes, and bearings and MorRyde pin box.

Duck, you're right but isn't MorRyde Lippert? So if you want to stay away from Lippert You also have to stay away from MorRyde.

But Lippert did buy out TrailAir - which explains why the Redwood "Falcon" frame/suspension cloud includes the TrailAir Equa-Flex suspension equalizer and some of the other TrailAir legacy products.

Yep! I was wrong and you all are right. I was thinking of the trail air system. I'm all for admitting when I'm wrong in hopes of keeping correct information on these forums

Alright, so let us say that I realize that the quality control and dealer channel service reliability of many RV manufactureres and dealers is a little suspect. I never really felt this way with Winnebago products, though admittedly maintenance and service is pricey. Still, here we are. I guess I am supposed to feel grateful for any response to my service request at all, but considering the quickest service date was yesterday (remember when I first put forth theses questions) and the nearest service center was not even a dealer but a repair outfit 3-4 hours (one way) away into some of the worst traffic California has to offer, I contacted the Redwood service rep a few days ago and asked if they could set up service north of here in any of three states and I could drop it off on our way to visit our son in Washington, who is leaving to get married and live in England for the next few years. The Redwood service rep said he had already shipped the parts. I said I would be happy to pay for the postage to ship the parts to a more convenient location and that my schedule made wasting two days going to the South bay nearly impossible. This knucklehead (now again, I admit I am not privy to how RV service guys think) said he didn't want to upset the service guy by taking away the business and making him ship the parts to another dealer. Apparently upsetting me didn't matter. And apparently the service shop has plenty of business because look how far down the road we are before I could get an appointment. I admit my busy schedule which includes selling my place, moving, and worrying about doctor appointments and possible surgery for my wife and father have made me a bit wound up and cranky. If you are satisfied with your Redwood, God bless you. Truly I tell you, this is a disappointing product with a disappointing dealer channel and service channel. This is not an overcooked hamburger in a new restaurant; this is an $80K product that underperforms in too many ways. When I have time, this rig is going down the road, and not on vacation with me.

We understand your feelings completely...had a similar situation with a new Holiday Rambler in '07...only kept it 10 months then "sent it down the road" and purchased our current Heartland Bighorn. Absolutely NO comparison in product or customer service...Good Luck in finding what you are looking for.

So it looks like you have now experienced the very reason that it is much more wise to buy locally and perhaps pay a little more. We have had 7 or 8 RV's over 30 plus years and always bought from local dealers.

Whenever we have had a problem which was rare the dealer was close, most times we could just drive into their lots and they would dispatch someone to look at the problem immediately. If they had the part or it was an adjustment they fixed it immediately.

For those reasons we also bought our 2013 Crossroads Provincial/Patriot CF345RF locally, I'm sure that we will continue to have the same level of service from the dealer if any is required.

We had 5 Cougar 5er's in a row and this is our first Cruiser/Crossroads product, to date I can see considerably higher quality and build differences between them and the Cougar.

Sorry you are having issues getting your Redwood Serviced, have you considered contacting Crossroads themselves (parent company). Everything I've read and heard about after sales service has been outstanding to the point they will come and pick up the unit and take it back to the factory for repairs at their expense.

Our local dealer can't say enough good things about them and has got out of Montana's & only has a limited number of Cougars left on the lot as they indicate the Crossroads lines are far less problems with way better warranty and dealership support.

Crossroads is the manufacturer of the Rushmore, not the Redwood. Redwood's parent company is Thor....

Oddly enough, the dealer we bought it from in Kalispell IS our local dealer (about 70 miles away), but some local dealers are just not too reliable either. You would think a dealer with long track records would be the way to go, but some of those guys are not too trustworthy either and some near our California location, after gouging people for nearly 4 decades, disappeared during the recession. Also very odd, the Redwood rep I did talk to said that Redwood had pulled their franchise some time during the winter from the guys in Kalispell. Still, I agree, a local guy, if he gives good service, should get your business, unless you like driving 300 miles to get service. I think the more annoying thing about this whole experience with Redwood is how undeveloped, scattered, and disorganized their dealer channel is, and how unconcerned the Redwood rep was after he called and expressed his concern and passed me off to some guy in the bay area who doesn't even carry Redwoods. I found my last conversation with the Redwood guy disconcerting, and even annoying, and I could tell from his tone he felt like he had done what he had to to help me. One of us, maybe both, must dense as stone.
