So I'm considering mounting a pair of residential bookshelf speakers to the front wall of my trailer and wiring them to a newly installed car tuner. Does anybody see a problem with this? As long as the impedance is within specs, I should be good to go, right? So... How will the speakers fare riding on a wall in a trailer? How will they tolerate temperature extremes, especially when stored over the Winter? Are there other considerations?
I see no problems with your plan. I replaced the "stock" RV unit with a quality auto one many years ago, wired some bookshelf speakers in, and have been enjoying it since.
I also wired the existing ceiling mounted RV speakers to the fade control (for the "rear" speakers), combined them in pairs (they were 4 ohms and the receiver specified 8 ohm) and they have worked just fine too.
