On 4/14 from Nebraska to Texas.
Weather
Sounds like a good day to stay in a CG if you are driving thru the area.

We were in fl a few years ago and my weather alert went off for a tornado warning in our area. The funnel had touched down in the everglades and was moving north east directly for the park we were in. Grabbed our personal effects and walked to the brick bath house. Park was nearly full w snowbirds and only 2 other couples joined us; both were from the midwest! Don't ignore tornado warnings. In that situation the cloud picked up off the ground and then dropped back down west of miami. Tore some roofs up and flipped some cars. Be safe.

Tornadoes scare me worse than anything. Here in NC they usually come in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep. I know when a hurricane is coming, I get many days notice. Pretty much no notice of a tornado. I have a basement, but not much good if I am in bed upstairs. Maybe I should move master bedroom to the basement. Not sure the DW would go for that!

My 5er is in TX and hope out of harms way for the tornados. I will be staying home tomorrow afternoon and not out running around. They have been warning us of the impending weather here in KC.
I hope everyone stays safe!

Years ago we were in Gatlinburg TN when a tornado went thru Knoxville. We were at Twin Creeks Campground. We had been following the storm on TV. We went to the office and ask where is the best place to go for the tornado. I was told they never touch down in Gatlinburg because of the mountains. Just then another couple came into the office with the same question. Turns out they lived about 10 miles from us at home. We had just had a bad tornado come thru our area a year ago. We take tornados very seriously. The four of us went to the brick shower house to wait out the storm. Funny thing is the storm stalled in the mountains and very early the next morning we had to evacuate the campground because of flooding. Be safe out there.

Statements like they never happen here can be proven wrong.
In Topeka, Kansas there is a hill called Burnett's Mound that according to a Native American legend protected Topeka from being hit by a tornado. In June, 1966 a F-5 tornado hit Topeka causing massive damage. The legend was not correct.

We were in Kansas in a KOA when we saw one travel across the sky a couple of miles away. Got windy in the CG but nothing major. The sky turned black as soot. They were selling Dorothy tee shirts in the store heh.
In Florida we almost never get the class F tornadoes that they see in the Midwest. We get more than anywhere else but they mostly blow down a few trees and knock down a few power lines. Once in a rare while they may damage a mobile home or house but injuries are uncommon.
