I parked my fifth wheel on a summer site this past weekend and the lights will dim every so often. I have good power as I have a Surge Guard and everything looks good at the power supply. My fifth wheel is about 7 years old with 50 amp. The lights inside will go dim for a few seconds then go back to normal. It seems to constantly do this throughout the day. I wonder my converter could be going bad. Not sure if that is what I should look at first. Any suggestions.

I had the same problem with my lights diming then geting bright and diming again. It was the converter, we had to have it replaced.

No matter how good the AC current coming in, the converter puts out 12V DC current for the lights. I also suspect the converter.

Ours was doing this as well the last time we used it at Christmas. We ended up having a very dead battery this spring, which we replaced this weekend. We turned on all of the lights and sat in it in the driveway this weekend. The converter came on and ran, and the lights did not dim. I sure hope our converter is happy. I don't think it is a cheap fix.
Good luck!

I would hate to replace converter and it just be the battery. Camper is about 6 years old. May be about time for converter to go out anyway. I may try to buy new battery and see if that solves the problem.

I have the opposite problem. When I first turn on one of the lights in the livingroon, it is normal and then within a few minutes it gets brighter.

Bet it's a WFCO converter.

Converters are a $200 to $400 fix. Sounds like a cell going bad in the battery, though.
Pull the battery out and take it to Auto-Zone or somesuch and have them load test it.

Mine was doing the same thing. Replaced the converter. Also the old converter boiled the batteries constantly, and replaced batteries. Since then, I can turn of every light in the Motor home and no dimming and the batteries do not boil over every week. Very rarely have to add any water at all anymore.
