Does anyone have insurance on their motorhome through Hartford (AARP)?
Looks like it is covered as a "car"?
Anyone have experience with how their coverage differs from "regular RV insurance"?

I have it. Yes, the basic policy is the same as a car. In fact, both my car and the MH are documented on the same policy. The difference is in the riders attached to the policy. Some are for the car some are for the motor home. For instance, because I don't own a stick house and therefore don't have home owners insurance, there is a rider on my MH police that reads just like a home owners policy.
Their customer service is quick and friendly and the price seems appropriate. I've never made a claim so who knows what that experience would be like. That's the real test of how good an insurance company is.

YES
They are wonderful with excellent customer service and after the "real test" they remain wonderful. One thing - they do not except just anyone like most of the other insurance companies.

We had them for about 15 years, insuring our home, RV's, and two to three autos at a time along with a $2 million liability rider.
No tickets, one small comprehensive claim of about $1,000 on a Class A in 2003. No other claims during our tenure with them. We were paying them in round figures $2,660.00 per year for all.
In 2009 we received a increase in our vehicle coverages in the amount of $675.00 per annum. Upon questioning them we were advised in writing that it was because I had turned 70 that year and was now considered a higher risk.
Of course we shopped around and found another carrier in the name of AAA and got the same coverage with a $1 million rider instead of the 2, for just a little over half of what we were paying AARP/Hartford before the rate increase. We're still with AAA and the rates have stayed stable. And I keep getting older and so far no wrecks and no tickets.
AND, guess who keeps knocking on our door wanting us to come back to them.
You may want to keep that in mind or even better drop that question on them and see what reaction you get. They wouldn't lie to you would they?

$1898 in 2011 with Hartford, 3 cars and MH. Renewal comes in at $5,387 for the same vehicles...no claims in between. They say they made a "big" mistake in the orig price........do you think? Nice people to talk to, they just don't make any sense!

Brett, I've had AARP Hartford for several years now and their price couldn't be beat. The company is Hartford, but a special deal through AARP. I've had no claims, but expect no problems if I did. Their MH/RV insurance is under the car insurance but is RV specific and recognizes part time use, agreed replacement, full comprehensive including glass, and a good RS assistance/towing. Check them out, you won't be sorry.
