I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and wondering about helper springs. Has anyone installed them and how do you like them?

Thanks,

We had air on our last TV ('04 Ram 1500) and loved them. Prior RV was a TC and it was nice to be able to fill them when we needed to and bring them back down for daily driving. Taking the "wait and see" approach on new TV as we have upgraded to a TT now and have not yet had the chance to fully load both - that'll be next month

Why didn't we do this sooner ?!?!?

Ok. So I looked at the WD hitch that I got from the RV dealer.

Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 8,000 lbs GTW, 550 - 750 lbs TW

My TT dry tongue weight is 735 is what the factory lists. I assume that this is most if not all the problem I am having? Shouldnt they have given me the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs?

With the trailer/truck loaded, dual battery, propane etc the 750+ max is not doing the job.

Thoughts?

I put SuperSprings on my Dodge several years ago. Made a huge improvement as far as ride, handling, and load carrying. The big surprise to me was that the improvement in ride while unloaded. I can't really address towing vs not as the only way I have really towed anything substantial with it was with them installed. I have loaded both the Dodge 1500 and my GMC 3/4 equally with approx. 2000 lbs in the bed. The Dodge handled just as well as the 3/4 ton albeit without the power of the diesel.

You should have 1000lb trunions at least. Probably should really be 1200's for a 10000 lb gross weight TT.

We had SuperSprings installed on our 2000 F250 last year. Wish I had done it sooner. Made a huge difference in towing and ride.

Went to the dealer and just picked up the 1000-1500ob tunions from them. He asked me "are you sure that is what you want?" like I was making a mistake. Now he has me guessing my decision... But I just cant see how it is not what I need at this point.

735 tongue weight listed from Keystone
110 Lb hitch from Blue Ox.
150 Propane and 2 batteries
100 - 200 lb? Gear in front camper storage.

1145 lbs with nothing in truck. I guess I will have to hook it up tomorrow after work to see what happens

I've got Timbren rubber springs on my 08 Dodge 1500 and really like them. Install them and forget about them with no effect on the ride while not loaded.
