This may be my last entry question before I find a deep river for this RV. I saw sparks coming out of my 1989 fleetwood flair breaker box. I replaced main breaker box cause it felt hot and a piece was missing on top. I thought a simple fix. Not so! Looking inside there are a back piece of plastic with signs of burnt plastic. My fuse side looks unafected. I'm wondering if I should call a electricians or a RV mechanic who would have to be mobile. Because my RV will not start. Any last suggestions?
Thanks, gail

Hi Straycat,
Who replaced the breaker box?
If it was you, did you duplicate the oem connections?

Oeom connections? The two wires that go back into the box? No. I replaced it I just reconnected it to the wires there. But it was. Already burnt the plastic that the box sits against.

Nothing personal at all, but from your description of the problem it sounds like you are not at all familiar or comfortable around electrons. That's OK, so find someone who is before sparks turn into fire.

Hi Gail,
OEM = original equipment manufacturer.
Are you sure you did not replace a "transfer switch"? (BTW I hate transfer switches.)
Even in older RV's there are often six breakers, plus a 30 amp "main breaker". That would be at least a dozen screws to remove and wire through a new "breaker box". Plus the breaker box is often a power distribution center and has 12 volt fuses.

Jeff from Cali. I had a RV neighbor tell me it main breaker box. That's why I asked about electrician/RV mechanic it was a snap in 30 amp. But thanks for the concern...

Piano man,
I replace a 30 amp breaker a very small plastic device. The size of a American hamburger. As they say on the East coast "just forget about it" lol

Hi Gail,
Replacing one breaker is not replacing the breaker panel. But since "sparky" has visited you, clearly something is wrong.
Did you happen to take a photo before you started?

This is in your 110v breaker panel, right?
Why would this prevent the RV from starting????
Or is that a different problem?
