M GO BLUE WROTE
I wouldn't plug into anything without first pluggin into my surge protector and then plugging the surge protector into the outlet...
I think you would be wise to reverse your process. V/R (read EMs, electrical management system - Progressive Industries)first to the pedestal and let it do it's thing, then plug the RV into the V/R.
As far as monitoring a volt metre, when you see a spike or brown, it has already gone through your electrical system and quite likely the damage is already done!

Get yourself a good EMS and be done with it. Cheap insurance. It is surprising how many miss-wired posts one comes across with open grounds, etc.

I understand for a high end Diesel pusher or a FW. But ours is less than $10,000. Or could it damage the fridge, AC, etc?
I'm curious to know how many years you didn't use a surge protector without any issues?

I have the Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C. It shut off the power to my 5'er two nights ago due to a lost ground. This happened in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. It did reset after the condition went away. Mine was $307.00 including prepaid freight. Cheap as far as I am concerned.

The first year after we purchased ours we plugged into a small city campground in eastern Illinois and it would not release power because of high voltage. The 30 amp plug was energized with 277 volt 3 phase power! It paid for itself on that day and I do not plug in without it.

OK, I'll try this again with the correct quote...
15 years with various older trailers. But the 2010 is my new baby
Plus I never knew. Thought it was a high end option and not for TT's.
