Thank you very much for your Great Photos and Trip Report. I love the comparison between then and now. Canyon De Chelly is one place I have never visited yet. I'm definitely adding it to my bucket list now.
I really like the flashback photos contrasting the present! Excellent.
When we drive around Shiprock and other locales in New Mexico, I do a pre-run on the dirt roads and pull-offs to clear the beer bottles and broken glass of the tracks.
The CdC campground was interesting (in so many ways) to visit: last time we were there, we almost adopted an abandoned puppy! We were torn as to its real status: abandoned? or not? So, we fed it well, and informed the Visitor's Center...
What a great way to show a trip report using new pictures and the old, which are so great just on their own.
Real nice post Mr. Clattertruck, real nice!
As a western history buff, I find Hampton Sides book top notch. Another that I treasure is David Lavender's "One Mans West.", which has a great chapter about Al Scorup the famous Mormon cattleman. Frank McNitt books are excellent. "Richard Wetherill: Anasazi Pioneer Explorer of Southwestern Ruins" is a favorite of mine.

It is a bit sad though, to see in your photos the deterioration on the top of Spider Rock through the years. I notice the smaller side of the right side is now missing a few pieces.. Guess we had better get there soon!
