Just starting my third week at Old Lewiston Bridge Campground in California's Trinity Alps.
Weather has been lovely, fishing very good & wildlife abundant.
Saw my first 2 bears of the season, one which is raiding our garbage dump despite all sorts of locks, traps ect. The Second was a true giant cinnamon color one that I saw while driving back from Weaverville on Rush Creek Road at twilight.
He ran across the road but 10' in front of my car, then proceededd at full speed up the steep mountain side. WOW!
Yesterday a day of Kayaking on Lewiston Lake resulted in hanging with my favorite otter, spotting both Egrets & Blue Herons, but the highlight of the day was when a Bald Eagle flew across my bow turning toward me with talons raised & wings flapping it seemed to be challengingg my right to be on "his' lake. After a brief moment he flapped is wings flying onward.
A most delightful experience.
Anyways just a little of what's happening in Trinity County, California!

Some of the best natural beauty out there. I'm envious. These are the kind of stories that are always worth reading. Thanx for sharing.

Wow, awesome. We stayed near Mammoth Lakes a few years ago, signs all over the place to watch for bears, bear boxes at every site and I felt for sure that I would see one, but no, narry a bear.

Really makes you realize the truth of the saying "You don't have to outrun the bear, just outrun the slowest person in the group!"
They sure can cover a lot of ground in short order!

Sounds like one of my best days elk hunting in the Rockies. Never saw a single elk, but in one day we watched three moose (bull & 2 cows), a pine martin, a bald eagle (watched it catch a trout out of the river), and the best was watching a herd of 50-60 Bighorn Sheep meander down the hillside, around us & the truck, and then up the other hillside. The lambs & ewes were within 10' of us and not bothered at all. Never saw the ram but you know he was nearby!

It's times like these that make you truly appreciate nature.
