We have a 2005 Itasca Meridian Diesel.

The engine air conditioner is blowing air but is not cooling. What can it be? Where is the unit located?

Thanks for any help.

Very similar to the one on your car. Engine driven compressor, an evaporator and condenser and lots of hose.

Fuse blown due to a locked compressor. Low on freon doe to a leak. Engine air is driven by accessory belt on the motor.

Good news is that you can pick your time and place when (or if) you get it fixed. Most of us without a working dash air just run the genset and rooftop AC to keep cool while driving. Uses around 0.8 gallons per hour. Those newer roof ACs are getting pretty efficient so yours might use less. Oh, yeah, Onan gensets are reputed to have a 10,000 hour life with regular maintenance.

I have the same problem on our 06 Revolution. I tried to add Freon but it didinothing. I gave up and run the gen set while on the road and use the roof cooling system.

We had that problem with our MH, hose too close to something on the engine and a hole melted in the hose. Either routed wrong from the factory or tec moved it during valve ajustment.

The compressor is located in the engine compartment... A simple thing to check is to insure that your evans control valve which controls the heated engine coolant from passing trough the heater core... It a common occurrence for the evan's valve to fail... So even though your sir conditioner is working it cannot overcome the heat produce is the coolant water is flowing through the heater core.

The evans valve will be on your firewall...

On my MH the engine compressor went out a few mos back, seal was leaking....I took it to the Ford dealer (I had an ext warr) and they replaced the compressor..

In talking to the tech who works on a/c issues quite a bit, he said that he sees many a/c compressors in MH's go out, esp seal issues.....Much more than in cars...(this dealership works on alot of MH's)...His opinion was that they get used so infrequently that they go bad due to lack of regualr use..His recommendation was to use the a/c regularly, even if not needed..He thought that using it for a minimum of half an hour every time you take the MH out might make the a/c work better and last longer....

Made sense to me so I do.....

Much simpler to turn the AC on Max and to coldest setting and then go back and see if compressor runs. That will eliminate a lot of guess work
