What is the best cleaner for the awning? I am starting to see some mildew on it and want to clean it off before it gets worse. We have only used it once in the time that we have had the camper.

I use just the same stuff I wash the RV with. When I see mildew a bit of bleach is added to the bucket.

X2..........My routine is this:

Stare at it with a beer. Then add small amount of bleach to soapy water bucket, wash awning, and roll up awning.

Have another beer.

Unroll awning and spray off.

Wait until it dries ( have a beer ) and roll back in.

Then go inside and tell your wife you have been out there slaving over the Awning.......and ask her to grab you a beer !

If you don't drink beer, get the wife to clean the awning!

On a similar thread recently, someone recommended Tilex. Spray it on, roll it up, wait one beer (or whatever), roll down & spray off. Scrub before spraying if necessary.

Wear disposable clothing when doing this, there is no way to keep the bleach off your clothing. Here in Cleveland we use LeBron James jerseys (or whatever they call basketball shirts).

I buy ZEP mildew remover at home depot by the gallon, also get a cheap garden sprayer. Pour about half in the sprayer, unroll awning, spray both sides, roll it back up. Wait 5, unroll and hose off. A lot of bleach in it so be carefull when spraying the underside. Like Chuck mentioned, it eats clothing as well as your vision. For badly mildewed awning areas you may need to hit it with a long handled brush before rinsing.
