Well, not in so many words, but that is the bottom line.
Fact: I phoned my local dealer 3 times in January when a check engine light came on. Each time they were too busy to fit me in, and as I use my truck for work, since there were no drive-ability issues I was told not to worry about it, but bring it in when I can. So fast forward to the beginning of May, the truck loses power, but comes back if I turn the key off then back on. I make an appointment at the dealer, and upon arrival I am told I am 5 DAYS out of warranty. To make a long story short, it was a high pressure fuel pump failure, cab off repair, that took a month to fix between waiting for Ford Canada special warranty approval (denied due to lack of producing oil change receipts)
Repair cost came in at $3000.00 with tax
Truck rental cost for the month another $1000.00.
My truck is a 2008 F450 6.4L diesel with 104,000 km which equates to just over 60,000 miles. My company has previously owned 2 fully loaded F350's. Ford Canada does not care......

Sorry to hear that, but I would have parked that thing on their lot with one mile to go on the warranty and had them fix it right then.

I was under on mileage, but 5 days over on time. I had bought the vehicle in October 2007 with 3600 miles on it. Thought I had warranty, but the previous owner had serviced it in May 2007, which I was unaware of. That was when the warranty clock started ticking......

This seems to be Ford's business plan for warranty issues the past three years. Have to say it seems to be sending their customers to other manufacturers. Not a good way to run a car company IMO.

I find it amazing that they wouldn't throw me a bone. With my business, I bend over backwards to satisfy a customer. With the amount Ford spends on advertising, it would have been a drop in the bucket to even help to the tune of a couple of grand towards the repair cost. Prior to getting the rental truck, I had an AWD Ford Fusion for a week. I actually thought it might be a great estimating vehicle, but there is no way I can purchase another Ford after this. I simply can't get over 5 days.....

I have never had a car manufacturer reject waranty on any of my vehicles. GM put a new 6.5 turbo diesel in my truck with 2 weeks left on warranty.

Well, since you drive a Ford now I would make sure you find out the exact day your warranty expires......I would hate to see anyone else go through what I did.

OK, so let me get this straight;
1. Your check engine light comes on 3 X in January and your dealer tells you to keep driving it.
2. So you drive it daily for 2 + months without bringing it in and then it dies
3. Your dealer doesn't go to bat for you with Ford Canada despite being only 5 days out of warrantee.
A. Your Ford dealer sucks
B. You shouldn't have driven it for so long knowing that the truck had a issue that needed to be addressed.
C. Your Ford dealership sucks
Did the Check Engine Light come on in February & March?
EDIT: Also, you shouldn't bring in your truck for service 5 days out of warrantee and expect Ford to throw you a bone. I brought mine in just before my warrantee expired for a top to bottom checkup.

You nailed it.
Idiot light never went off, NO drive-ability issues, but I should have insisted they look at it......Problem was they never had time, and I can't afford to be without my truck as it is my work vehicle.
It was only when it actually lost power I took it in, and that was on a Tuesday. If I had only brought it in the previous Thursday, but it was still driving fine.....
On your edit as well, I thought I had warranty til October. My mistake. A very costly one.

Amazing.
Trucks under warranty -dealer has no time to get it in to check it out.
Trucks without warranty -dealer gets it right in to take a look.

I'd do some serious complaining here, and letter writing to Ford. Dealer was made aware of potential problems long before warranty expired, and appeared to make at the least a verbal commitment to you to service vehicle when space available.
Warranty is sort of a contract, and you tried to fulfill your part by attempting to get it serviced during the warranty period. Dealer dropped the ball on this one.
