You missed his test results with a noise meter at the top of the page.
At the same time a noise level doesn't always tell the story as they can have a completely different noise profile from one another. You need to look at the spectral analysis to see from where all that noise being measured is emanating from. I have seen and measured identical Honda's that look exactly the same on my meter at identical distance and position. But one is clearly more "pleasing" than the other, at least to me.

I two Honda EU2000s. One is different/better sounding than the other.
I have lots of friends with the Hondas and there is variation amoung them...None are what anyone would call obnoxious, but some are definantly better than others. So I understand what you are saying, but since one cannot even get the Hondas to all sound the same,,,,how can anyone dog the Champion for sounding "different"?

I can honestly say that spending an extra $350 for a Honda would not have been worth it to me in terms of noise or performance. I will just have to wait and see how long it lasts. Reviews from other users have been good.

i found a nearly new Honda 2000 on Craig's, for only $50 more than what you paid for this one.
you can find used Hondas out there, at a good price, if you're patient.

Pardon me sir, but you don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about. You are simply making wild assumptions in the absence of any facts. I don't need specifications for the Honda and B/S generators. I can listen to one and then listen to the other side by side. That is exactly what I did at Elkmont campground in GSMNP a few weeks ago. The guy next door had a Honda EU1000i, which I assume is no louder than the EU2000i. He and I agreed that neither is clearly louder than the other under all conditions. We were parked next to a stream and the stream was louder than either one at 50 feet away from both. Neither of these generators were anything like as loud as the generator in the late model Allegro motorhome parked across the road. It was louder at 100 feet away than my B/S was standing in my campsite.
Where you live, Honda generators may be commonly for sale on Craigslist. Where I live, there was exactly one EU2000i for sale last year. I know because I looked. The photo was of a greasy and beat up unit somebody used on a boat. It looked like it had been run to death. I can't remember the cost, but there is no way I would have given anywhere near what I paid for my B/S.
For me, buying a Honda instead of what I got would have amounted to throwing away $350, at least based on my experience so far. I would never claim that is true in every situation. How can you pas judgement on a generator which you have obviously never even listened to? Are you trying to convince yourself you didn't throw away $350? Are you afraid someone else will also buy a B/S and think you are stupid?

Yes, it handles the heavy current draw at start-up very well. Voltage sags to 108ish for as long as it's running in excess of 50 amps output. The CPE 2000i would overload as much as a dozen times. If both my batteries were below 40%, it was hopeless. Leaving me screwed. Out came the Schumacher 15A speedcharger to get the batteries somewhat charged before the WFCO could be used. I updated the inverter section as per CPE, no luck. The limit is around 1400VA, the WFCO, and the PD9260 draw around 1450 at max output.
