I used it at a campgrounds when there was no site available with connections. I was surrounded by tent campers. I can't remember the hours in which I used it but I didn't realize that quiet hours meant no generator. 
Since I plan to dry camp quite a bit, I am trying to acclimate myself to higher temps but really have issues when the humidity is through the roof. I am not particularly good at roughing it . . . obviously.
So what can I do about this?
Hello - Usually the rules of the campground tell you when generators can be used and they are all different. I quoted the most used ones. Handbasket had good ideas about using a generator. I'm not sure about running one in a neighborhood, but if I were to do so, it would only be to cook coffee.......

I make my coffeee pretty much as soon as I get up. Boil water. I use Melitta cone and filter. Fresh. Easy. Efficient. Quiet.
I agree. I wouldn't even mess with the generator.
Get a cone filter (Melitta, Java Drip, make your own, etc.), a propane stove and a tea kettle.
or a "camping" percolator

I'm with rvdogmom40 on this one. I use a tea kettle on my propane stove to heat up my water and then a french press to actually brew the coffee. I do this even when I'm plugged in to electric because I think it's the best way to brew coffee. My problem usually ends up being that I've run out of ground beans since I only grind enough beans for a couple of pots of coffee at a time. Either way, if I'm in a campground with quiet hours, I'm probably plugged in to elec. If I'm where I need my gen, I'm somewhere where quiet hours aren't an issue or I can easily drive away to an area where I won't disturb anyone.

Interesting responses to this question. Guess we all love our morning Joe.
I have an electric one cup that was given to me, think it is a Black and Decker.
I also use a Melitta when I have no juice. Since I live in snow country in the woods I lose power at least 2 or 3 times a winter and 2 or 3 times in summer from thunder storms. So I have a Melitta in the house,too. After all, it's just another form of drip coffee.

You don't even need to use a generator to grind coffee beans. When on the road we bring whole bean coffee and use an old fashoned hand grinder. Its almost medatative and gets you back to the good old days.

I received one of these about 20 years ago in college and have just about worn that thing out. It has been a great little appliance.
I know folks love those Keurig things, but I kinda chuckle when I see the money they spend. After all, my cup at a time Black n Decker has been brewing single cups of coffee for 20 years.

Actually reheated coffee is not bad if you throw in a little baileys. Throw in a lot and its freakin awesome.

Some of you who have this fierce hated for instant coffee, must still be living in the past when instant coffee was horrible. Times have changed and so has the process of making instant coffee. We have tried several types of instant and the winners are Star Bucks and Nescafe. Star Bucks is pricier. Both make a VERY good cup of coffee. If you have not tried either of these, I would suggest trying them...you might be surprised. If you don't want to "heat" up the inside of your unit, the Coleman gas burner (pictured in a previous post) is a great option. I do not like cooking on the gas stove inside, so we use a Coleman gas grill and the burner to cook on outside.

OMG!!! My stepdad just passed on to me a Keurig that was a gift..I sold it on Ebay and split the profits, about 35.00 each.
