First off a little about us. I'm 60 and DW same. DW has Termnal Breast Cancer, She has a year or so. Cancer had spead to the rt.lung, Kidney and Pelvic Bones before its return had been caught. She is doing good for now. Have a 89 Jamboree Class C now that is not good for her to spend any time in. Shopping for a older class A But in our price range(around 5-6k) everthing we find has ALOT of Delamantion. Did all coacks in the 88- 92 have that problem or is it just rigs that spend most of their life in west WA. have the delam. Can't spend more because I can't get a loan(owe over 225k in med bills, no ins.) Should I worried that much about delam or not? I'm more about the mech. end of things but wifey don't like the BUBBLES on the coaches. Your thoughts? John.

I would worry less about the physical needs and focus more on the spiritual needs. JMHO. Praying for both of you.

If its for a year or less probably not. Mine has some delamination from the previous owner. I did eternabond holes on the roof and then put on a new liquid rubber roof. I havent seen it getting any worse and Ive had mine for 10 months. The main thing is just make sure it doesnt have any active water leakage.
Sorry to hear about the Mrs. and I hope you guys have a great time for however long you have left together.

Sorry to hear this John,
This is a hard question to answer. It's a tuff price range to find something that doesn't have some kind of problems.
Is a TT out of the question?

What are the problems with the Jamboree that have now made it unusable for her. Your answer will help guide us to help you find a solution. There are other choices, but we don't know what problems you are trying to solve. There are some variances, and some motorhomes are more suited to certain types of situation than others. I can tell you that you can find a Revcon in that price range, and there will never be delamination or problems with seams leaking, but it may or may not be the right choice for you.
I would also be somewhat concerned about our available time. It is likely any rV in that price range will need attention. I understand you are mechanical, which is great, but how much spare time will yo have to fix things? I would like to know motorhome repairs will not compete with your time for DW. Her time priorities may preclude you from being able to make necessary repairs so you can actually use the coach. To you give you some perspective, I have been on RVnet for over 10 years. there have been discussions and a survey about what it typically takes to make an older RV suitable for use to its new owner. Most people spend 7 to $8000.00 within the first year, just to bring it back to functional. Most of those respondents to the survey were DIYers, so they were spending that in parts! I'm not making any judgement about your financial abilities, but just want to make sure you understand what level of corresponding time commitment you will likely have in the first year of ownership. I am in no way suggesting not to take the plunge, but just trying to show you how critical the choice you make is and how critical it will be to try to find something that does not need work. Its best if you can find something that has been used on a regular basis up until the time of sale.

Sorry to hear.
The last thing you need to more financial headaches.
Why is the class C not good for her to spend time in? Unless you got really lucky any $5K Class A needs or requires $5K to be spent on it to do cross country trips. Bought 1992/1993 32' MH in 2007 for $8K and last year we did a 17 state 8000 mile cross country just fine but we had it up in shape.
To only use for one year I would have spend $50 for roof repairs (1 roll of Eternabond. I would not have recored the radiator or replaced the water pump. I did not get tires until they were 9 years old. In other words PM spending would have been near ZERO.
Mine thoughts based on 5 years+ of MH ownership is to take the $5K plus required repairs and do week long condo vacations based on that budget from time to time but hanging near to you preferred medical resources.
Most important talk, talk and talk about concerns and as noted work out your real needs vs things that you would like to do. If I had a year I would not want to do things if it would be bad for the wife one year and one day later. We do not have to go into this here but you are looking at $10K min of expenses that are coming your way.
Try for quality time and not cramming the rest of a planned life time into one year. Really talk, talk and talk to insure both are going to be happy as possible. Personally I expect I would not want to be living on the road if my health was failing fast.
Wish you the best. My mind can not go to where yours is forced to go at this time.
I am guessing you want to say near your medical resources?
I see Daveinet was typing similar thoughts at the same time.

First of all, wishing you all the best, and miracles do happen. You will recieve alot of prayers from your RV friends here.
Just a thought, maybe sell the Jamboree and get a comfortable conversion van to travel in and use rental units at campgrounds and Hotels at places with a nice ocean front or mountain view. You can still pack a grill and basic camping essentials. This may make it easier for you guys and less of an impact on you wallot. Prayers to you and the Mrs. John

Thanks for the replys. The C is tough on her because of the corner bed. Also getting from the front seat to the back is hard for her getting past the Dog HouseI have plenty of time for working on a rig,I too had Cancer(Throat), am Med. retired. Plus have a GREAT family that helps with alot. We don't travel alot, mosty short trips so I think something in the 30-32 ft range wood be good. It's something we have talked about alot. She loves to camp with the Grandkids and that time is important. We mostly Boondock. All the time we have togther is charished. We have been togther for 40 years!
