I was at Arrowhead for 2 weeks several months ago while working in the Asheboro/Troy area. The campground is a little out of the way, but quiet and nice. Was my second visit to that park over the past several years. Badin Lake has the advantage of waterfront sites, but lacks electrical hookups. Working for two weeks without electric or boondocking with a generator for a few days in this heat isn't my cup of tea. So, Arrowhead was my choice. I had site 45 w/electric across from the bath house which was spotless. Cost was about $9 with the "geezer" pass.
From there I camped at Hagan Stone Park, south of Greensboro, in Pleasant Garden, N.C. for about 6 weeks. While there, I enjoyed a vintage Volkswagon rally one weekend and a blue grass festival on another, both on park grounds. If you like federal parks, try a few C.O.E.s over on Lake Hartwell... down I-85 to the Ga/SC line. Or up in Wilkesboro, there are several C.O.E. parks on the Kerr Scott Reservoir.
Enjoy your weekend at Badin Lake/Arrowhead and keep an eye out for Bigfoot.
Thanks for the tips - the DW is not too happy with the heat in here tonight...our July Fourth boon docking tradition may be coming to an end. I think we will be trying the "how cold can you get the camper before we shut down the genny" game tomorrow night!
