I might be heading to Yellowstone the last week in August - looking at all our options - haven't even checked anywhere for availibility, yet. Has anyone stayed at the new rv park, Buffalo Crossing? Or, have info about it? Website is a bit sparse on rv info - more about all the "deals" for other stuff. That should give me a hint, huh? How about Wagon Wheel? We have used Grizzly, will probably be our first choice, if they have a site - just looking for a "plan b". We need fhups, decent bath/showers - sister/bil will be joining us.

Personly I would use Grizzly, but stayed in Wagon Wheel on my first trip to Yelowstone back in 96. I don't know any thing about Buffalo Crossing except from their web site, it is in the Island Park area some 25+/- miles from the park entrance at West Yellowstone, so this is what I would ask myself, do I want to drive 30 mins each way to and from the Park the answer is a simple one for me stay in West Yellowstone at either Grizzly or the Wagon Wheel. I did a Post about this Park(Buffalo Crossing) a couple of weeks ago. I dont have any info other than this.....its not 25 miles away, its closer to the West entrance to the Park than Grizzly. It(the campground) is in the same parking lot as the IMAX and Wolf Center. When we called the Buffalo Crossing, they had just opened and their prices are in the 40.-45.00 range as I recall. You are certainly correct that there isnt a ton of info on their WEB site but if interested, give em a call.
Last year while visiting Yellowstone, I saw them building this New CG and everything looked good from my observations. Either way....have a Great time!

The campground you are referring to in Island Park is actually Buffalo RUN Campground. Buffalo Crossing is, in fact, a brand-new RV park just behind the IMAX theatre in West Yellowstone as acampingwewillgo stated.

What we need is a "test" camper. A volunteer to check out the security. If its next to the IMAX theater, there's an awful lot of foot traffic as well as car traffic in the area. And the IMAX has showtimes up until 9PM. Grizzly is at the end of that road and fully fenced. As stated, their web site is pretty light on information.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

We just got back from yellowstone a couple of weeks ago and I didn't even notice this rv park and we stayed at Grizzly which is right down the street. I heard a couple of comments about the place and they were NOT good. We always stay at Grizzly; can't top it.
